Conceal Carry A Beretta 92FS/M9???

Post by chopsterholic »

I purchased a Beretta M9 a few months back at a gun show in Hampton. A week later I took a gun safety course and applied for my CHP. Then it got me thinking. Has anyone ever carried a full size Beretta 92FS/M9 or even considered it? I know we are in "Open Carry Land" but I would still much rather prefer to carry concealed and I'm pretty sure some of you are saying that it's crazy because it's huge or heavy but for those who actually own or carry one what are your thoughts?
(I'm expecting a lot of :hysterical: , :bangin: and  )

For those saying I should consider getting a smaller gun, I will, but not anytime soon. I love this gun! I love the way it looks, the way it feels in my hand and believe it or not I'm actually a decent shot with it!

Again let me know what you think! Any input is appreciated.

I own one and I would not even consider concealed carry. Too big and heavy. But thats just me. Some people conceal carry 1911's so I guess its what you are willing to put up with.

I think a lot of people prefer smaller and lighter guns because to them they're more comfortable. When something is more comfortable you're more likely to take it with you more often. If you find your big honkin Beretta to be comfortable to the point that you'll carry it 90+ percent of the time, by all means go for it!

Most of the battle will be in finding a holster that fits well on you and the gun.

I've been carrying an M9 open and concealed (99% concealed) for about two years now. Sure, it's on the large side, but it can be done. If your clothes fit properly or a little bigger, than you shouldn't have a problem doing it. I do have a smaller gun or two that I can waistband or pocket carry if need be, but the Beretta gets carried 99% of the time and I carry where ever and when ever I legally can.

There are good holsters out there for it. Comp-Tac and Blade Tech, Raven, or Galco come to mind.

But I've been using one of these for two years. http://www.berettausa.com/products/nylo ... 92-series/ I bought one on a lark when I was trying to decide on a good permanent holster to use. But in the end, this one works well and is solid for the price.

I carry a 1911 in a Milt Sparks VMII just about all day everyday. I think your biggest issue is going to be finding a holster that works for you. I tried a couple before getting to the VMII, but they just weren't what I was looking for. Also, be sure to get a good sturdy belt.

The only other thing I will mention is the width of the gun. Its a double stack, so you may need to go a pant size larger. Weight should be a non-issue with the right holster.

I would recommend that you carry what you like and what you can shoot well. Many people carry a full size gun. :packin:

I'm a Beretta 92F owner, and I have open carried mine. I'm very fond of my 92F, and I'm very accurate with it, but as someone who is 5'9" and about 150lbs, I can't imagine concealed carrying it anytime except Fall and Winter... it'd be just too darn big to hide during the Spring and Summer. Sure, some people do it, but in my opinion there are better options for concealed carry that would be smaller, lighter weight, just as accurate, and easier to conceal, at least for guys my size. I hope you enjoy your M9 and find a carry solution that works for you!

Hey if you can pack it carry on! If ever trouble would arise you would be much happy having a full size gun then any lighter compact option.
