VA Resident out of state CPL

Post by Machias »

Howdy, moved here from WA back in the summer. Wife and I are VA residents now. Is our WA CPL still valid now that we are VA residents or do we need to obtain a VA CCW? Thanks!

Your permit holds reciprocity, but since you are a VA resident, it would behoove you to get a VA CCP. Much less confusion if you are ever questioned about it. Among other things. It's quite simple in VA. Call your local circuit court and they'll explain what you need. ID, form, class certificate or DD214, and $50.
I had a SCAR 17 and 16. I also had a bunch of Glocks and a couple H&K pistols. Oh and a DDM4, but I sold everything when our government told me these dangerous tools can actually hurt someone. Apparently they grow legs and go on killing sprees.

You're welcome. That's what we're here for. Good luck and welcome to Virginia.

Since WA does issue non-resident permits your WA permit is still valid.

A non-resident permit is for the state that issues it. For example: if you live in Oregon and travel to Washington often you can get a Washington non-resident permit so you can conceal carry in the state of Washington. Unless it shares resiprosity then you don't have to worry.

I would check with WA to see if your permit is still valid. Since it's a resident permit and you're no longer a resident, it's possible that it's no longer a valid permit.
