AtHome home surveillance for the iPad or iPhone

Post by MNMGoneShooting »

Ok, not all that firearm related, but neither was the Hostess discussion! :)

If you are like me and want a nice camera installation around the home but don't want to spend a lot of money, check out the AtHome app for the iPad/iPhone. You can connect up to four webcams per computer and monitor either in your home wifi or when you are away from home.

Their software has the ability to record and detect motion.

Recommend some USB extension cable or wireless webcams though to make it worthwhile!

If you want total security, go to prison. There you're fed, clothed, given medical care and so on. The only thing lacking... is freedom.

Also, The iPad/iPhone app "LiveCams Pro" can view most IP network cameras (dozens of different manufacturers and hundreds of different models).

For generic IP based security cameras, I prefer AXIS cameras. They are not cheap, but I have not had good results or success with "cheap". AXIS has always worked for me. At work, we have deployed hundreds of them and they have all been great.

The new Logitech wifi webcam looks interesting too.
