Touchy feely come-together post
This election, more than any other in my life, has seemed to polarize the nation. I've seen more smug Obamabots and bitter Romneybots than I would have expected days after the election. Those of the board that voted 3rd party didn't even get up on the map.
That all said, we're all Virginians and all gun owners. We need to unify around that love of the 2nd Amendment. The truth is that people that chose to be armed are going to be strong of opinion, and we are going to disagree on things. We need to rally together around protecting our 2A rights.
We may differ on religion, politics, economics, and a slew of other issues, but let us start moving in the same direction when it comes to our rights as Americans to keep and bear arms. That is going to come under attack, and we need to be a single voice.

STOP TOUCHING ME!!!!!
Seriously though, you are right, despite some differences, we all need to be concerned about the common right that brings us togehter on this forum, and be mindful of those that would take that right from us.

There are some things in life that we don't really miss until they are gone or taken away. Let's don't let our 2 A Rights be one of them !!!

Life is too short for division based on jealousy, hate and revenge. All of which were the mainstay of the left's election mantra. We can do better than that.

Please write your congressman or your closest pro-gun politician to express your opinion on this matter.
I wrote my congressman on the subject. As an example, here is what I wrote, you may use this or any form of this. They need to hear how we feel.

Also, to all you gun owners who voted for Obama. You helped bring this on us all."Mr. Rigell,
First, congratulations on your win. It's too bad we couldn't do better overall but such is life.
Senator Feinstein is writing new law in regards to gun control/ban. I implore you to oppose this and encourage all in the House to oppose this intrusive law. You are our last defense in keeping our 2nd amendment rights.
Also if President Obama tries to sign an executive order in enact such a ban, please do whatever possible to block that order.
These rights are not to be removed by one man or one party.
So-called assault weapons are used in a very small percentage of crime, being used in less than one percent of gun crimes and 0.20 percent of all violent crime, and the ban in no way affected violent crime while it was law.
Thank you for taking time to read this and a reply would be nice so I know you have received my e-mail.
Sincerely,"

I have to agree Mindflayer. Election is over. Time to move forward and hope that congress, post election, will finally put politics aside and pass some meaningful legislation. I am optomistic that it can and will happen.

Sorry man, but kumbayah in denial of reality doesn't do any good. It is true that anyone who voted for Obama voted against the Second Amendment...and all the others. Those who can't handle the truth are part of the problem.ShotgunBlast wrote:

Sorry, but I don't think it's gonna happen (finally put politics aside and pass some meaningful legislation) - at least not unless it's "meaningful" because it's exactly what the gun-grabbing, overreaching tax-and-redistribute liberals want.
Democrats are characterizing the Obama win as a "mandate". Immediate legislative assaults on the Second Amendment. The UN small arms treaty was acted on within HOURS of his re-election. Valerie Jarrett left for Iran to negotiate on behalf of the USA as equals with her cousins in that pesthole of despotism, religious oppression and terrorism before all the votes were even counted. Clearly, Obama now considers himself to have the "FLEXIBILITY" he promised to Putin. What I expect is a relentless, take-no-prisoners attempt by the democrats/liberals to push their agenda down the country's throat using the same my-way-or-the-highway tactics that Obama and Harry Reid have used for the last 4 years.
I sent Morgan Griffith an e-mail yesterday or the day before and told him gridlock was our only hope now. The republicans and conservatives in the House should refuse to pass any more continuing resolutions to keep the government going in the absence of a budget. Let it shut down. The bastards will lose their support pretty quick when the check-writing machine grinds to a halt. The folks here that advocated voting third party to bring matters to a head should be on board with this.

Sigh.
Missing the point.
If you are a gun owner, then focus on our 2A rights. That's why I started this topic. Plenty of mud slinging in other threads.

I dont think I've ever seen as much hate and outward anger as I've ever seen this year.
And I blame the media. They make everything into a scandal or confrontation because it boosts ratings. Its disgusting. They need to report the damn news and then just stop talking.

At the end of the day we are all in it together and stuck with what we're stuck with (which was a loooong time in the making).
I encourage everyone to ride the tiger and keep their heads down.

You should run for congress.

Ride the tiger is a reference to the fact the best way to avoid being eaten by a tigers fangs (aka our fallen world) is to ride on top of it while it devours everyone else.
Then when it sated and sleepy you can climb down and kill it.
The term was a title written by Italian far-right intellectual Julius Evola, who had alot of fascinating ideas.

No. I'm not missing the point. What I said buttresses the point that we who are in the same boat need to all paddle in the same direction and bail out instead of in. But when doing so we must confront reality. The liberals/democrats are not going to give any quarter or make any meaningful concessions unless it is temporary and illusory. That's not mud slinging; that's just stating the obvious. Yesterday, Obama said his re-election was "a mandate to tax the rich". If you think they are going to back off any on gun control, you are just dreaming. You don't keep the wolf from the door by proclaiming him to be a puppy dog. He'll still eat you no matter what false expectations you might assign to him. They'll (liberals/democrats) try to exploit their "mandate" by proposing even more draconian restrictions on our 2A rights. They won't rest until private citizens have NONE. If that's not a damn good reason for Second Amendment proponents to work together, I don't know what is.

The point was to stop the mudslinging - even if I agree with the sentiment - and focus on how we as a unified face will defeat gun control measures already being proposed. We can sit and lick our wounds raw or we can man up and start taking action.
Me? I've never been one to sit and whine.

We're not sitting and whining...
We're f'cking pissed. Really....f'cking...pissed.
Right now? I have hatred like you wouldn't BELIEVE for 51% of the nation. Betraying the values that made this nation great for guv'mint benefits, and "What's In It For Me."
Sooooo Peddle "hugs" somewhere else... I may just squeeze the f'cking life outta someone.
Will it subside? Probably not, and we've probably lost the last vestiges of a once great nation. As to "defeating gun control measures" that was simple, DO NOT VOTE FOR OBAMA, DO NOT VOTE FOR TIM KAINE!
Epic fail, we're f'cked. Get ready for the re-education camps, and being singled out for the highest taxes EVER PROPOSED ON FIREARMS, AND AMMUNITION!

Now, for the rest of you that can get over your butthurt about this election (and I hope someday that includes you too, Rev), you all would do well to listen to Mindflayer. He's right. Our 2A rights are in danger now like they were in the 1990's, when we actually did get hit with an AWB. We don't want that again. Therefore, when it comes to that, as Ben Franklin said, we either stand together, or we will surely hang separately.
You all would also do well to listen to Gunderwood for elections going forward. He's given you some good advice.
I'll see you all at the gun shows...right behind the VCDL booth. Come on by and say hi if you get a chance.

And we're all going to be even more freaking pissed when an AWB passes. Or when some executive orders get passed. Or Feinstein passes something even more ridiculous.Reverenddel wrote:We're f'cking pissed. Really....f'cking...pissed.
MY POINT IS WE NEED TO START THINKING OF HOW TO DEFEAT THIS. We have to be proactive, not reactionary. We need to be sending our Congressmen emails NOW. THE POINT IS IF YOUR OWN GUNS WE MUST BE ONE TEAM.
Obama is already in. Tim Kaine is already in. No one I voted for made it into office, so it's time to take the fight to the next step.
