I don't live in the desert....so my bug out plans do not include desert living. I live in VA, so water is not a worry and game and wild food is abundant. If my family is driven from its home, we will look to head west towards the mountains.
If I lived where I grew I grew up in TX, I still remember how to generally find water and wild food in that environment too. Mesquite trees are abundant and live oaks often grow near water sources.
My family has survived the Norman invasion of Britan, the first twenty years of jamestown, the american revolution, the Texan independence war, the civil war, and the depression. Tradgedy surely can come, but have faith, be smart, and plan a little. Have a care for the next generation. I should note that most of my family (the ones who did not die in battle) lived to ripe old ages of 80+ years.
