Just shows how desperate they're getting. They'll be calling him a child molester or something worse soon.

That is freakin hilarious. I don't know the name of my trash guy. They drive by once a week and don't even have to get out of the truck. A mechanical clamp picks my can up and dumps my trash.

If this guy is busting his ass dumping trash year after year, Bain Capital should buy this trash company and make it more efficient. If they don't need as many workers because the mechanical clamp does the bulk of the work they can let this guy go and save his back.

I really like the union quote at the bottom of the article.
"Let me be perfectly clear about this: Our union does not work for any political party; we work for justice and fairness in the workplace," he said at the AFSCME's annual meeting in June. "If someone takes us on, it does not matter whether they are a Democrat or a Republican, conservative or liberal. We must hold politicians of all political stripes accountable for what they say and what they do. Because when it comes to what affects our members and our rights, it's not about left versus right; it's about right versus wrong."

Still, Saunders told attendees, "We must work our hearts out to re-elect President Obama."
I tell ya, union people and politicians must be cut from the same cloth if you can say you're non-partisan in one breath and in the next breath make a completely partisan comment.

It's hard to believe that this guy is genuinely butthurt because the Romney's didn't give him a hug or offer him a drink. Maybe he should knock on the Romney's door and thank them for paying taxes so he can have a job.

No, you obviously don't understand the progressive mindset. The "rich" are only allowed to exist if they allow people like the unions and this garbage man, along with Obama and his ilk, to crap on their heads - - and they're then obligated to curtsey and say "thank you for the hat".

My point is that he is being used by the union to prop up Obama's campaign. No one in their right mind expects a homeowner to even acknowledge the trash man on his weekly rounds. But then I'm assuming that a typical municipal employee is anything other than a lazy union drone.

Considering his complicity in this asinine political ad, I strongly suspect that assumption is a little too charitable. :hysterical:

I suspect Romney does care very much about having his trash picked up and is thankful that there are people who provide that service...which is why he pays for the service.

You guys don't leave a Christmas present for them? I don't know their names or speak to them either, but we always leave a six-pack of something good out for them before Christmas.

Irregardless of your attitude towards municpal workers (not union here, but they were back home), its just a nice thing to do.

The things you find on the the interwebs. Who knew that Mitt Romney was once a garbageman?

http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/32 ... -c-w-cooke
One day I gathered trash as a garbage collector. I stood on that little platform at the back of the truck, holding on as the driver navigated his way through the narrow streets of Boston. As we pulled up to traffic lights, I noticed that the shoppers and businesspeople who were standing only a few feet from me didn’t even see me. It was as if I was invisible. Perhaps it was because a lot of us don’t think garbage men are worthy of notice; I disagree – anyone who works that hard deserves our respect.

Let's be clear: Mitt Romney was NOT a garbageman. He collected garbage for one day in his efforts to see how "the average American" worked day in and day out. Semantics you may argue, but there is a clear distinction. Whether his political stunt just fuels the perception that Mitt is out of touch with the average American because of his wealth I leave up to you.

What Mitt does say about anyone working hard deserving our respect is true, it is wrong to have the assumption that people aren't noticing him because garbagemen aren't worthy of notice. I can't speak for anyone else, but during the day I have my own things to do and my own problems to think about. I'm not going to give everyone I see a big smile and a wave. I'm gonna go about my day just like they're gonna go about their day. It doesn't mean I have any less respect for them. Maybe he's just bummed that more people didn't notice him trying to relate with the average Joe. "Hey, isn't that Mitt Romney collecting garbage? Wow, he's just like us other than at the end of the day he'll go back to his posh house, eat a great dinner, and never have to do that average Joe work another day in his life! I'm gonna vote for him for Governor!!"

Who the F cares if he acknowledges the trashmen or not, I bust my butt everyday without a thank you. I don't need one and don't expect one. But due to my good nature I do wave to the trashmen from time to time because they do too and their job is worse than mine.

Kreutz has another problem, here, too:

He doesn't appear to fully understand the concepts embodied by either "hospitality" OR "Southern".
...........................
First, as to "hospitality: The dictionary definition of this concept is as follows:
1. the friendly reception and treatment of guests or strangers.
2. the quality or disposition of receiving and treating guests and strangers in a warm, friendly, generous way.
So, hospitality is extended to guests and strangers. A garbage man, servant, regular employee, service person (as in repairman, not soldier) or any number of other folks we encounter day by day when they 're going about their business and we're going about ours are neither guests nor strangers; and this concept of "hospitality" does not obtain.

Second, as to "Southern": Well, hell, Kruetz; you're a damnyankee. You are congenitally incapable of understanding that. But even you ought to understand that for as RANK and unreformed a damnyankee as you to presume to criticize someone's "southern hospitality" would be offensive if it were not so laughable. I will offer this in the way of kindly advice: Try not to be uppity. It makes your being a damnyankee even more of a burden on you and those around you.
