Need Opinions on Stock for Remington 870 12ga

I am looking at replacing the Stock on my Remington 870 12ga with a Boyds Sterling Thumbhole in Pepper...


Boyds makes a matching forend, however, I don't like that its the type that covers the loading port when the action is open...

I currently have a Speedfeed II Solid Stock Set #0200...


I am thinking about putting the Boyds Stock on and leaving the Speedfeed Forend...

Any Input??? Do you think it will look Good, OK, Stupid, Retarted???

I like to be able to access the loading port with the action open because thats how I was trained to UNLOAD the Shotgun too without racking all the rounds out... (Law Enforcement)

The forend on my shotgun originally covered the loading port, too. I took the forend off, grabbed a saw and a miter box, and cut the forend down to the size that I wanted. Then I took a Dremel to the sawed edges, and beveled them a bit. The forend looks like it was made that way.

Like the other guys said........... it's your shotgun; do whatever makes your nipples hard.

But I am curious. I'm primarily a bird hunter, so I need be able to snap the gun up to my shoulder and take a shot fast. I'm not sure, but I think that thumbhole might tangle me up and slow me down. What do you USE that shotgun for?

The Shotgun is for Home Defence & Deer hunting (where rifle isn't permitted)

I have thought about Duck Hunting and Turkey Hunting with the Shotgun too...

I guess the good thing is that I plan on keeping the Speedfeed Stock so if this one does tie me up and slow me down all I will have to do is swap the stocks...

I think i'm going to order...

I think I'm also gonna go with Boyds Thumbhole Stock for my Remington 700 .30-06...
