small cc 9mm

I'm looking for advice on what gun you would pick for a small, easily concealed 9mm? Bonus points for something with a laser built in or easily added. I want a manual safety, ie: no baby Glock.

The Ruger LC9 looks interesting to me, but I don't know much about it. Any feedback or other suggestions?

Thanks, I hadn't seen that one before. The size specs look basically the same as the LC9. It doesn't have an integrated laser available, but is suppose to have a crimson trace available in the "Fall". It's interesting, I've heard good things about the M&P line. Is there anything in particular that makes you like it?

I've heard or read competition shooters whom I trust say that this pistol is both accurate and easy to shoot (especially for a subcompact). The better than usual trigger is real draw for me, plus I'm an M&P fan who shoots an M&P in competition.

There is always some risk in being a first production run owner for any new model pistol; but, I like this pistol well enough that I will probably get one soon.

I'm partial to my Kahr PM9... I believe you can get them with a safety, but I prefer mine without... You can get a less expensive version, the cm9, as well.... I have been very happy with it, its in my "summer time" carry rotation. If you get a chance to shoot one, try it and see.

+1 on the new M&P Shield 9mm. A friend of mine is an ex-Marine and now works as a weapons trainer/SME for the military. He likes the M&P line and got his hands on the new Shield last week, which we took out for a shoot over the weekend. Seems smaller to me than a Glock 26, but comfortable. But, in order for me to fire quickly necessitates the use of the +1 magazine, in my opinion -- the flush fit mag leaves my pinky finger dangling and feels awkward. The +1 mag for the 9mm gives you 8 rounds. The mag release, safety, and slide stop are well placed, and the grip angle was perfect to me. When using the +1 mag it was very accurate too. As soon as I get a little "play" money set aside, I'm getting one.

Kel-Tec P-11 is my EDC it has a long trigger pull like a revolver, it is not a striker fired gun like a Glock, so there is no need for a safety. Keep you finger out of the trigger guard, it won't go bang! I love mine compact, accurate, and 10-13 rounds depending on the mag, plus S&W 59 series mags fit, and can be used as a companion piece to the Kel-Tec sub 2000 (S&W mag version) or the Marlin Camp 9. A company just came out with a conversion kit for these to use .22 to practice with, just google-fu Kel-tec p11 .22 conversion and it will lead you to the site.....Oh and Kel-Tec's are about half of an M&P....you get more than you payed for with a Kel-tec ( I am not a paid spokesman for the Kel-Tec company, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night).........LOL

Check the personal fit on that kel tek... I loved my p 11 but it just didn't fit. The rear of the frame crossed my thumb knuckle at the exact point of a small vein. Long story short, hematoma every time I shot more than 2 mags.

Wore a glove during practice and that helped, got a grip sleve and pinky extension and that helped but the bottom line was it just didn't fit. Traded it off. Too bad. Nice round count in a small package. Always ran good too!

You can get an M&P Shield online from Gunbroker, but they are selling at or above MSRP plus you have the shipping and transfer costs. I'm going to wait until I can get one at good price.

Ok, I'm going to look at several to compare, I'll try to see that one too and the Kahr also. But I like the other Rugers I've seen ( built like a tank and in America ) so I'm going to look hard at the LC9 as well as the Shield.

The store took my number and said they would call me the next time one came in to look at. If it was going to someone else, they'd ask him if it'd be ok if someone looked at it. There is no way I can spend that kind of money without looking at it first. See if I like the trigger, some have said the safety is a little stiff to operate, etc, etc. I mean it's not a Kimber or anything, but it's a lot to me right now.

I'm lovin' my LC9 with Crimson Trace laser, I carry it all the time. It's a single-stack design so it's nice and flat against my hip in my Kusiak IWB holster with extra magazine holder. It's a reliable shooter with reasonable accuracy. My wife tried it out at the range and loved the integrated laser, now she wants an LC9 w/CT too. There are a few for sale right on this forum, so I may be picking another one up in a week or two.

I'm also looking at picking up a CZ 2075 RAMI. Being a double-stack design, it's a bit thicker than the LC9, but dammit, if it's stamped "CZ", I'll buy it!

+1 for kel-tec but "fit" is an issue, I have med-small hands and it fits me fine but if you have large hands it might be a problem.
