VA might allow EMS crews to carry

Post by AlanM »

Virginia moves to allow ambulance crews to carry guns
September 12, 2012 By: Mike Stollenwerk
Continuing the general regulatory trend started by Governor Mark Warner (D), and continued by Governor Bob McDonnell (R), Virginia is continuing to strike more state regulations banning gun carry. This time it's Old Domination ambulance crews who will regain their right to bear arms.
If you wish to comment to the powers that be:
Public Comment Forum:On this Action: Amend current regulations to include new regulations as a result of legislative changes and changes in the practice of EMS.
Note: There are other changes in the works (being considered) besides the weapons change.

Public comments are In Progress! Opened on 9/10/2012 and closes at 11:59pm on 10/10/2012

Four boxes to be used in defense of liberty: soap, ballot, jury, ammo - use in that order.
If you aren't part of the solution, then you obviously weren't properly dissolved.

Since I am not EMS, I was completely unaware that EMS was unable to carry on duty.

Apparently Andrew Goddard isn't so fond of the idea. He thinks that armed EMS will result in more casualties. Just like if his son had been armed, more people would have died at Tech.

Yep. That's logic.

Saw this, would love to see it applied to all first responsors not just EMS.

The problem with the world is, when EMS shows up to a call and the Yo-yo's that are involved, just see uniforms and the EMS guys get attacked. I've seen this first hand.

In fact that's the reason many EMS still carry outdated 5-8 cell mag lights. When the natives get crazy, it's all they can have to protect themselves. Sad but true.

I don't know if any insurance companies would still stand behind a company if they knew they would/could be armed.
