Hello from Spotsy County...
Hello,
I have been shooting since I was about seven years old. As a teen I competed in .22 rifle competitions. At 21, I entered a career in Law Enforcement and will retire in three more years. I hunt regularly, I train bird-dogs and I try to target shoot as much as I can. My wife recently got into handgun shooting and is in the process of joining the local Isaac Walton League. I also have been teaching my son (9-years-old) and my Daughter (11-years-old) to shoot.

Re: Hello from Spotsy County...
Thanks to all for the warm welcome.
I would love to teach my wife the finer points of shooting, but as it is with most couples, it doesn't go well. She complains that I break her concentration when I am giving instruction. So to avoid anything unpleasantness between us, I opted to have someone else teach her the basics. My wife took a course at SSG Tactical; shot a lot of pistols in different calibers there. Then she shot with other people testing guns and calibers and finally settled on a Ruger LCR IN .357 MAG. Of course I upgraded the front sight to a night sight and replaced the stock black grip with a pink grip per her request. She got her Concealed Cary Permit and we are joining the Isaac Walton League, so she can go shoot on her own when she wants too. Both kids have been shooting .22 cal revolvers and semi-autos as well as rifles. The boy and I love to set up and shoot the dueling tree in the back field. He loves to use my old Mossberg 144LS bolt action and I use my awesomely modified Ruger 10-22. Its great family fun time. If we don't teach our kids who will continue to fight for our 2nd amendment rights and continue our firearms traditions when we are all too old?

Welcome welcome! The more the merrier and you are right. We must instill in the younger folks why a free populace needs to be able to defend itself. That it's a right so many fought for and died to give to us.
