How long does it take?
My Father-in-law is sending me a hunting rifle from Calif. Does anyone have an idea how long it takes?....I'm chomping at the bit like a kid at Christmas.

How did he sent it? If it's USPS (postal servcie) or UPS Ground, from CA to VA it would be a minimum of 7 days. USPS would arrive at your house, but by law UPS can only transfer a firearm from dealer to dealer. Hopefully however he shipped it, you'll receive it with no issues. I think the USPS will ship a rifle to a private individual, but cannot ship a pistol without going to a dealer of law enforcement facility. Good luck!

He shipped it from dealer to a dealer. I'm not sure how it was sent, I'm thinking UPS.

Cool, probably UPS Ground then as it's a rifle. I just ordered a travel case and it shipped from CA, so it's a 6-8 day delivery window.
