I made my first stop this morning. I'll be back for lunch and dinner. I love it when liberals think that only certain of their beliefs/rights apply to everyone. They want everyone to accept the gay lifestyle with open arms but freedom of speech, NO. If you don't agree with them then you will be boycotted. I vote with my dollars and I have found that I need less and less of what the liberal nut jobs are offering.

I heard there are traffic jams outside of Chick-fil-A restaurants today. We'll be going there for dinner.

Gonna make the 50 mile drive down to Kingsport, TN to the nearest Chick-fil-A, bust my diet, and have the first one of their sandwiches I've ever eaten. Even SWMBO's into this. She was skeptical of my similar trip to have a pastry and coffee at Starbuck's for the first time ever, but went along without too much complaint. On this one, though, she's all in - although she's advocating a GRILLED chicken sandwich. Bless her heart. She doesn’t MEAN to be a killjoy; it’s her wifely duty.

I support gay marriage. More importantly, I support the right of people to do as they will without governmental interference.

I also do not believe we are a "Christian nation". The First Amendment sees to that. Again, I support the right of people to express their faith as they will without governmental interference.

That also means I also support the right of someone to express themselves and to practice their faith as they see fit, as long as there are no victims or environmental damage. It is ridiculous to me that someone would ask an executive at a company that is not open on Sunday and openly expresses their Christian beliefs about gay marriage and be shocked at the response.

If you don't like how they run their business, don't go. That goes for any business across the spectrum. This media hype - on both sides, right and left - for any issue is wearisome. Both sides - right and left - picking which of the Bill of Rights they think is valid is equally wearisome.

Sure, Chick-Fil-A uses my dollars to support a stance with which I don't agree. On the other hand, they don't say, "No homosexuals allowed." and refuse to serve. Sounds like a good balance to me.

I will say that the "Kiss-In" that some gay rights groups are planning is something I strongly disagree with. I won't mind if I see gays holding hands, or even a peck, but I know some folks will take it too far. I don't like seeing straight people slobbering all over each in front of me (because most that do are ugly), and the same rule applies to homosexuals.

Will I be going to Chick-Fil-A today? Nope. But that is only because I had fried veal last night and Chick-Fil-A the day before, and I am supposed to be watching my cholesterol.

(Side note, my fiancée is from Michigan, and she never had CFA until we started dating. She loves their sammiches.)

TL;DR - CFA makes some darn tasty sandwiches, their sugar-free Lemonade is stupid good, and their milk shakes? It makes me lament being lactose intolerant.

If you're driving that far, you should at least hit the mall in Johnson City too.

I'm supporting CFA to the extent that I'm glad they stand their ground. What I'm really doing is exactly the opposite of the buttwipes who want to try to punish anybody for that. I don't support gay marriage, because I think it opens up all kinds of legal issues. I do support some kind of a "civil union" approach; but only because there needs to be a way to deal with those same issues when a same-sex couple live together, acquire property, etc. They're gonna do it anyway, so there needs to be a way to deal efficiently with the aftermath. I find the very idea of homosexual contact profoundly repulsive. That said, as long as they keep their bedroom activities in their bedroom, it is none of my business and I don't want to know. In fact, I refuse to be told; and I won't stand for having my nose rubbed in it. That goes for heterosexuals, too.

as Mindflayer mentioned above:
On Friday, supporters of same-sex marriage will have their say. They plan a “kiss-in” at Chick-fil-A restaurants across the country – encouraging gays and lesbians to share a public display of affection at the home of the chicken sandwich.

If you live where I do, you frequently drive that far for dang near everything but milk and bread.

I have no doubt that SWMBO will work in a mall-stop somewhere. She always does. That's why I'm going to take my Kindle. Plus, I think we need something at Sam's; in which case we'll go to the CFA near the Sam's at exit 7 on I-81. That will be about 60 miles, though.

Exactly right ratherfish, the government only got involved when they figured out that they were loosing money from not selling marriage licences. Marriage is between a man, a woman and God. God defined marriage not the government. If someone can prove anything different I'll listen to the argument but not until then.

I have no problem with someone being gay, that's between them and their God. They hotly object when Christians try to impose their beliefs on them but yet they're trying to hijack a christian covenant of marriage to pervert it. Take the civil union sit down and shut up!

Looks to me like the state of legal matrimony alters the legal relationship
and mutual obligations of the parties to the marriage. The state actually sanctions the marriage legally and as far as I know either credentials preachers to perform the ceremony or recognizes their religious credentials as valid, doesn't it? At one time and for a long time, marriage was pretty much a strictly religious thing. But back then separation of church and state was sloppy if it was practiced at all. I suppose this displacement of religion by the state may have had its beginning in North American society in the usurpation of the role of the takeover of the church in Engkand by Henry VIII; although that just a wild surmise. One of you history majors are welcome to correct me on that. So like it or not, the state has a role to play; although I certainly agree that the institution has its roots in our religion. I'm no authority on these matters, but I suspect that it may be true that the institution of marriage may even pre-date any religion that exists today. I believe that marriage is almost ubiquitous in human societies. Maybe it is even biologically/mentally built-in to the human psyche to stabilize an environment conducive to the propogation of the species.

My point is, though, that the institution is not exclusive the preserve of either the state or religion on an objective basis. Just as obviously, if it is your religious conviction that your marriage is exclusively a matter of religion, well- it is your marriage. Just don't expect to get a valid divorce from the preacher.

DANG! Hope I don't encounter lines like that. I may postpone my show of support by a day - I hate standing in a long line; especially for something as unremarkable as any fast food I ever ate.

I'm sitting in the Charlottesville C-F-A right now. Super busy and drive-thru line is wrapped around the place.

Haven't had their food in a long time, but it seems pretty good today. One thing for sure, though, is that I don't think I've ever been a fast food place where the staff was ever this polite. That's a breath of fresh air all by itself.

Gonna hit the line again to get a shake to go, but I'll be back again. So, yep... Boycott Fail. Epic fail!

Those homosexual activists can take their attempt to make a political issue out of private behavior and stick it where...

Oh, that's what they do already?

The local one in Chester is packed. Parking lot full. People parked in the street behind and beside the restaurant. People parking in the post office parking lot. People walking up from the direction of the 7-11. The drive though line was around the store, out of the parking lot and almost out to Rt. 10.

Bought supper after waiting for almost 30 minutes in the drive through line.

If someone decides to link themselves sexually and emotionally with the rights the STATE conferrs cover it with a legal contract.

GOD ordained the marrage covenant between a man and a woman. Not to underwrite their sexuality but to for the stability a famity needs to raise and teach children about our civilized society and to raise them in the nurturing and knowlege of HIM.

Wanna confer legal rights....make a contract. Don't redefine MY marrage and demand that it be equal.

I think to make things easier all couplings should be civil unions in the eyes of the government. If your religion defines a coupling of a man and a woman as a marriage, good for you. What gets me is stories like Sally Ride who has had a same sex partner for 27 years but they're being denied survivor's benefits after Ride recently died. If all couplings were civil unions and things like health or survivor benefits were based off of civil unions and not "marriage" unjust incidents like this wouldn't happen. You can't tell me that partnership of 27 years was any less of a "marriage" than a man and a woman being together that long.
