Laws in VA involving AK-47's?

Post by navysully »

Hello all,

First post here. I just bought a Egyptian Maadi AK-47 (MISR S/A) that I am working on to get 922R compliant. I read on another forum that there may STILL be issues with putting in a 30 round magazine. Does anyone know about this? If you are wondering what I am doing to come up to speed with 922R is changing the pistol grip, trigger group, muzzle, and magazine (which counts as 3 parts). Does that all look up to snuff?

Any additional insight you guys may have would be really good as well. :)

Here is a photo of mine (pre change).

Mag size is only an issue if you decide to open carry the rifle in one of a few specific localities around the state, and you don't have a concealed handgun permit. Since you've obviously already got the rifle and you're presumably over eighteen, you're good to go.

I'd suggest not using the magazine to make parts count. US made AK mags are both more expensive than surplus and lower quality. Maybe consider a wholesale furniture change. Those three parts, plus hammer/trigger/disconnector and the muzzle device get you under ten foreign parts.
