Glock Magazines
Glock Magazines
has anyone tried utilizing Glock 9mm and 40 sw magazines interchangeably? From all appearances they are the same?

Not a good idea as you won't have reliable feeding. The .40 magazine lips are more widely spaced and the follower is different from the 9mm. The magazines are the same external size though and the guns' frames are the same - the Glock 19 and 23 share the same frame as do the Glock 17 and 22. However, the .40 magazines will also work with 357 Sig cartridges.

Re: Glock Magazines
From what I understand the 9mm magazines will work fine in the 40 Glocks. Swap out for a 9mm barrel and you're good to go. Two calibers for one gun.

You should use 9mm magazines if you put a 9mm conversion barrel in a .40 caliber Glock pistol.ShotgunBlast wrote:From what I understand the 9mm magazines will work fine in the 40 Glocks. Swap out for a 9mm barrel and you're good to go. Two calibers for one gun.
I think what the OP is asking is about is using 9mm cartridges in a .40 caliber magazine or using .40 caliber cartridges in 9mm magazine. Although either will often seem to work OK, they just won't run reliably. If doing this did work reliably, Glock would save some production costs and have a universal magazine with the same parts for both .40 and 9mm pistols.

Re: Glock Magazines
I took a good look today and the feed lips in a 40 mag are slightly wider. Fired a few rounds with 9mm in a 40 mag. It worked well, but I can see the potential for feeding issues.
Thanks.
Thanks.
