Where were you in '69?

Post by OakRidgeStars »

Maybe smokin' dope and drinkin' wine?. Or maybe you were in upstate NY for the greatest musical event in history. So, anyone here make it to Max Yasgur's farm forty years ago?.

I didn't make the concert then. Guess it's because I was only 8 years old. I did smoke dope once but I didn't inhale. Tried a beer one time too but I didn't swallow it. :hysterical:

I was 8, and my older sister was freaking out because she wanted to go. Problem was, we were so damned far north of Bethel that there was no way anyone could have gotten there with the thruway shut down. That, and Dad informed her ass that there was no way on Earth that he would permit his only daughter (17 at the time) to get anywhere near that mess. The cuss-word filter prevents me from quoting him verbatim.

I was 12 but I remember the event even though I was living in Lafayette, LA at the time. Even then I was a Jimi Hendrix fan.

Howdy, Y'all,

9 at the time. My brother (7) and I were staying w/my grandparents in S. Indiana while my 'rents were house hunting in VA. I have vague recollection of news reports regarding the event in NY, but my attention was captured by Hurricane Camille. Living in the midwest, I was familiar with the havoc wreaked by tornadoes, but a hurricane was like nothing I had ever heard of before. We felt the after effects of the thing at my grandparents, a thousand miles from where it made landfall. And wouldn't you know, the damn thing went after my folks while they were here in VA, too. They got back ok, but I remember a lot of folks died in flooding when it rained out crossing the mountains.

Regards,

George

I was 2 yrs old and in the Philipines where my old man was stationed with the Navy. While I don't recall the event, I have vague recollection of my folks gripeing and moaning that there was no way in hades that they could make it to the concert.

Nah, I was busy with Hurricane Camille doings, as our area got hit pretty hard, but not as hard as Nelson county.
