Overlooked Vintage .22 Bolt Guns???

Here recently I've taken a liking to the older bolt 22's. I know they're typically not going to be worth a mint but I'm always looking for something a little different. How about sharing some of your favorite older guns... it just might spark my interest in that model and send me running toward Gunbroker lol...

Allen's Armory will occasionally get some older Czech rimfires in. He gets others, too, like Anschutz and Sauer rifles.

I have a Remington 510 Targetmaster. Single shot, bolt action, iron sights, 25" barrel. The coded date stamp shows it's date of manufacture as Aug. 1945.
I'll often take it to the range with me because it is fun to shoot and is accurate. When I've taken it to an indoor range, like Dominion, I'll typically have some younger guy ask me about it. As .22 semi-autos, and particularly the AR-style .22's, have become popular and more prevalent, I think a single shot bolt-action or tube-fed pump .22 is a novelty to many younger folks. When asked about it, I look at it as an opportunity to educate. I'll offer to let them shoot it, too.

I have a 72A and its nice, but it has trouble exacting. It'll run shorts but not LRs the extractor is to chipped to run them.

I inherited my grandfathers 1958 High Standard - Double Nine .22 in nickel finish. Fun and cheap to shoot, I really enjoy it.

Mine runs through LRs and longs no problem, but shorts sometimes have a feed issue.

I've been considering a nice bolt 22 as my walther p-22 doesn't like subsonic rounds at all.

I still have, and shoot and hunt with, my first 22 bolt action Marlin. My Mother bought it for me when I was 10 with the approval of my Uncle Bill (Marine fire arms instructor (ouch)). No serial number, still shoots shorts, longs, long rifle, and hollow points using a ramp rear sight and fixed front sight.

I love my Mossberg 144-LS. it is a target rifle, that is magazine fed. the magazine has an adapter to go from LR to shorts if you wish.

Finally found the part and replaced it! Extracts very positively now and is a joy to shoot. Just keep shooting and shooting until you reach down and realize your out of ammo(that's a long time with this gun)! There is something to be said about not having to long a magazine.

I love 22s. I found a Remington model 34 on Virginia Gun Trader for $100. It was made in the 1930s. Tube magazine. Bolt action. Peep site. I am no marksman, but I popped a hole in a little 2 inch medicine bottle at 85 yards with the old Remington. Fun, fun, fun.

I have been trying to increase my quiver of 22s for a while, but prices seem quite high right now. I'd buy almost anything for $100 or $150, but there isn't much out there at that price point. I know that there are thousands of scratched, chipped, rusted 22s lying in closets just waiting for me to grease them up and shoot them. I wish the owners knew I was looking.

I picked up a bolt action magazine fed 22 at wallmart for $169. It seemed they couldn't keep the semi's in stock but this savage arms handles the subsonics like a dream. I still have to track down a scope mount for it but the iron sights work nice enough for the moment.

How about the old Mossberg M44US. A nice bolt action with some history. Shot my first last weekend and now have one of my own on the way.

I just got the new Ruger RF American, mounted a 6 power scope and after zeroing the combo I spent a good part of yesterday afternoon picking flowers off stems at 50 yards. Great trigger and the Pride Fowler scope was great.
