Hello
I recently moved to Arlington (around Walter Reed & Columbia Pike) and am looking to join either Sharpshooter's or Blue Ridge Arsenal Range.
There is A LOT of data about both on this website and I have been by to have a quick look at both, but I have a question that I don't think has been asked before.
If I wanted to go shooting after work on a weekday (working regular business hours) which would be easier to get to from home? BRA is 22 miles away and Sharpshooters is 12. I am assuming that BRA would be more difficult to get to if only on account of the extra 10 miles, but I have no experience with I395 rush hour. I66 on the other hand...
Thanks in advance.

Re: Travel time & area shooting ranges
In my experience, they are both awful, unless you can take the carpool lane. Perhaps commuting by motorcycle is a solution.

don't forget the NRA range -it is in the same direction as Blue Ridge but not as far out (fairfax as opposed to chantilly)
do you work in Arlington as well? is that where you would be coming from?
66 can be a mess, but and this is a big butt, if you get out before 4:30 you should miss some of it; also you always have the option of trying to hop off and take 50/29 out west (sometimes despite the lights 50 is better traffic wise)
also if you are located with axis to the toll road silver eagle is a possibilty -about the same distance to it as BRA if you use the toll road to 28

Re: Travel time & area shooting ranges
I will be working in DC so I would have to go home first. I will keep the NRA range in mind.
