Or you can bump fire it and pretend it's fully automatic.Diomed wrote:As a legal permament resident, you're able to purchase and possess what Virginia considers "assault weapons". If you want to save up the money you can also have a select-fire AK; budget around $15,000 for it (a bit more if you want something specific, assuming there are any available).kelu wrote:Yes, I am a legal permanent resident. But there are too many laws to learn, and probably I will die before I can learn what is supposed to know. It is easier to learn what I CAN do, it would be a much shorter list. But I can't find one.

I cannot speak upon this, but I have HEARD that a piece of paracord, rigged to the bolt, wrapped around the trigger, and a loop on the end works as a mod...
However, the ATF considers that piece of string a "sear", and will charge you with "intent"...
So only wear LOAFERS when you're shooting, cuz SHOO-STRANG BE ILLEGAL N'STUFF!

ATF walked that back a few years ago; presumably one of the higher-ups got tired of taking crap for it. A shoelace only becomes a conversion device when it's actually installed on a firearm.Reverenddel wrote:I cannot speak upon this, but I have HEARD that a piece of paracord, rigged to the bolt, wrapped around the trigger, and a loop on the end works as a mod...

There's a pic floating around of a registered and serialized shoelace installed on ... I think it was a M1A. Kind of risky, really, you're running just on the edge of an out of battery discharge.

lol.... And you guys are giving him advice on getting an assault rifle! Hahaha!kelu wrote:Man, that's expensive!... 10 years ago while the short secession war between our sister country Moldova (it was actually part of Romania before Stalin took it) and a southern part called Transnistria, you could buy an AK for 1 bottle of vodka, a bazooka for 2.
And for $1000 I had an offer for a tank![]()
Moldova had a very bad financial crisis and people tried to sell everything they had around home. Our flea markets were flooded with people that crossed border selling anything imaginable, for very good prices, to survive. Regarding full fire, we were trained anyway to shot in short bursts, for multiple reasons. One is that is not need more than 2 bullets that hit the target. Second is that after 2-3 rounds recoil will make you to miss. Third, you better save some ammo for the next filthy capitalist that came into sight
I had a SCAR 17 and 16. I also had a bunch of Glocks and a couple H&K pistols. Oh and a DDM4, but I sold everything when our government told me these dangerous tools can actually hurt someone. Apparently they grow legs and go on killing sprees.

Re: Romanian Draco AK conversion
We had that discussion at the Gunshow when I was talking about my Draco conversion.
AK's in basic form cost $450-$600. Dracos $350-$450.
AR's in basic form cost $600-$800.
The AK uses a round that is accurate to about 300-400 meters. AR is out to 600 meters.
AK's are the chosen weapon of our former enemy, and very dependable with little to no upkeep. AR's have been around since the 1960's, and have a reputation for being a bit finicky in certain circumstances.
I like AK's.

I hope this thing looks as mean as I see in my head...
When I can figure out how to post photos easily, I'll post.

I wrote earlier about Transnistria, you can see a documentary about how easy is to get any type of weapon there mainly in part 4):

DEAR FREAKIN' GAWD!
So I started this project at 11:00... on the nose. Remove all the parts to the bare receiver, barrel, and trigger group.
Took off the slant nose muzzle brake, put on the 5.5 muzzle brake, dot of loc-tite, small spot well. 20 minutes.
Arsenal Inc Handguard with the Ultimak tube was a BEAR! I had to dremel at the handguard to get to fit into the proper slots. 60 minutes.
Joy Of Joys! The stock adapter is built for a Draco, not a WASR-10 pistol, so the RIVET indentations are in a DIFFERENT SPOT!
70 minutes later, touch up paint, finally fits on.
Put the Hogue Grip on with a dot of loc-tite, and got it on as well as I could. 20 minutes because the blasted screwdriver wasn't magnetic. Long story.
The AR-tube, and such went on like a champ, 5 minutes.
The Spring buffer? 2 minutes.
I have no gun porn. I forgot the camera, but I WILL take a photo, but in truth?
It's a meeeeaaannn looking lil' package. Tight, no rattles, I'll clean it up a bit later, but I also put a mag-pul Moe slot on my AR, that was 10 minutes.
However, things I want to tell you if you build this:
1.) HAVE TOUCH UP PAINT! Yer gonna scratch something.
2.) HAVE A DREMEL TOOL! Or Black, and Decker, yer gonna need to mod something.
3.) DO NOT GIVE UP! I promise! IT FITS!
4.) READ MANY THINGS ABOUT THE BUILDS BEFORE YOU DO THEM! It helps prep you for what will happen!
5.) HAVE AN ICE COLD FERMENTED GRAIN BEVERAGE WHEN YOU FINISH! Because yer gonna be injured from metal dust, plastic dust, and tools.

Thanks for the update, Rev. I'm looking forward to seeing it.
What's the story with the welded muzzle brake?. Was the barrel not threaded?.

You have to spot weld to keep the ATFE from jumping you like a fatgirl behind the bleachers.

Re: Romanian Draco AK conversion
He put a stock on a pistol. There's two ways to be legal, one is to make the barrel more than the legal minimum of 16", and a permanently installed, i.e. welded, barrel extension qualifies.OakRidgeStars wrote:ExplainReverenddel wrote:You have to spot weld to keep the ATFE from jumping you like a fatgirl behind the bleachers.
