Law regarding second party using and transporting firearm
What is the law regarding a second party transporting and using a firearm at a range, with out the owner being present?
Is it illegal for them to transport and use the firearm? Does the owner of the firearm have to be present or can the second party use it alone.
I ask to see if it is ok for my husband can transport and use my gun without me being there.
Thanks for your help

There are no such laws in Virginia. Your gun is his gun and vise versa.

Then tell him it's against the law as he shouldn't be having so much fun at the range while you're stuck with the kids!TacticalMom wrote:Awesome. Thank you Oak. As long as he is transporting the gun within the limitations of the law, he'll be fine.

Unless your gun is a Lawgiver from Judge Dredd, in which case it will explode in your hand.ProShooter wrote:The gun doesn't know who it belongs to.....

I think there's some confusion of regular guns and NFA guns, which do have the restrictions you mention.
Unless the gun came with a pretty little stamp you had to pay the feds for, you're fine to do whatever you want with it in this state (certain things, hopefully obvious ones, excepted).

Re: Law regarding second party using and transporting firearm
Thanks guys, that really helps. I figured he was perfectly safe transporting it within the limits of the law just fine. But he wanted me to make 100% sure. So I poured over the laws, and could not see anything that said he could not. Last resort was asking here to you guys, who have been doing this for a long time.
So thanks for answering my question.
He might be cutting into my action though, so we might have to have a little talk. =) But he considers my Glock, my gun, and as well he should. MINE MINE MINE MINE
I am willing to share, but there is a limit to a girls sharing abilities.

Not all of what's been said here is correct. Unless you're getting divorced and an equitable distribution hearing results in an order about who owns what, your property is your property, since the Married Woman's Act was passed in 1933. That said, you can give anyone you like who is lawfully eligible to be in possession of the firearm permission to take, use, transport, and enjoy the gun, subject to the same restrictions as you would face: don't take it into the courthouse or the jail, etc.
