Gander mountain alert
Gander mountain alert
I stopped in at the Gander Mt, near Glen Allen, Va yesterday, and saw some amazing prices. I saw 2 Enfields for $999, I think they were the gold plated sniper rifles, owned personally by Winston Churchill..... But the amazing thing was a Ruger Mini-14 ranch rifle for $499...either I'm woefully misinformed or that is a pretty good price, and more so from Gander Mt. I also stopped at Greentop guns, just one word.........WOW!!!!!!!!!

Suggested retail $881. Not bad! I like the tactical rifle.

Oh, sorry, they were used guns, but still $499

How used I wonder, at one point Minis had such flimsy barrel they weren't very accurate. Ruger has since increased the thickness and done a few other things to beef of the accuracy.MrSmitty wrote:Oh, sorry, they were used guns, but still $499

Yep! Went over there about a week ago... AWESOME stuff in both GANDER, and GREENTOP!
I think they finally got the hint.... yer prices are TOO high for this economy! They're coming down a bit...
I found an AWESOME bunch of rifles at Dance's Sporting Goods in Colonial Heights as well.
If you have the money? Now is a "Buy" time.

Perfectly legal to pawn guns in Virginia. Check out Liberty Firearms and Surplus in Hopewell. They'll pawn guns and they carry a large selection of both new and used guns. They've got low prices too.MrSmitty wrote:Where is Dance's? I'm new to Richhmond, and have been to Colonial Heights a few times...near the mall?? Re: Gander mountain alert
I refuse to give gander mt money for a gun. IMHO they are way overpriced and what I have heard, give next to nothing for trade ins or people just selling to them. I gladly promote going to actual gun stores that aren't owned by a corporation who are just worried about the share holders.
I had a SCAR 17 and 16. I also had a bunch of Glocks and a couple H&K pistols. Oh and a DDM4, but I sold everything when our government told me these dangerous tools can actually hurt someone. Apparently they grow legs and go on killing sprees.

What gun store is not owned by a corporation? And what gun store of any kind isn't worried about making a profit?scrubber3 wrote:I gladly promote going to actual gun stores that aren't owned by a corporation who are just worried about the share holders.

I said corporation worried about share holders..... I was simply implying that with a large corporation like gander there is more than an owner and employees to feed. I know about profit too as I have owned my very own company once until I sold it.TenchCoxe wrote:What gun store is not owned by a corporation? I just like to keep money in the American small business owners hands instead of feeding BIG corporations. Not to mention a local mom and pop gun store will work with prices and give you fair prices on your trades because they don't have to "feed" the executives and shareholders....

I'll take a deal anywhere I can get it. I'm a gunwhore....
As to Dances? Go to the Colonial Heights Walmart, drive AWAY from the mall, and look on the left for the Olive Garden, it's right across from it.

Dances is in that circle around Southpark mall. They've got a ton of stuff. As far as the pawing of guns, most pawn shops NOT in Richmond have them!MrSmitty wrote:Where is Dance's? Then you must put Green Top in that same category. It too is owned by a corp (of a few people). And penny's for the trade-ins. If you don't believe me, try it once.I said corporation worried about share holders..... What's green top? How'd that come into play concerning my statement?

Re: Gander mountain alert
1) OP stated good prices at gander.
2) you stated gander is way over-priced.
3) reverenddel mentioned green top (it an LGS 1/2 mile away from gander mtn) is over priced the same as gander. their website: http://www.greentophuntfish.com/
summary: relevant because it's tied into this thread when you read everyone's view.

Depending on the item? The line? The manufacturer? One stop can be overpriced, the other not.
Gander carries ammo, their prices suck... usually. BUT on occasion with it on sale? It's lower than online and shipping.
Greentop usually has anything you need part-wise, and can tell you what you need if you don't know.
Bass Pro? Yeah, never bought anything there firearms-wise... I think that department is WAY overpriced!

I don't know didn't give them a closer look after seeing the price........and originally I said GM was way over priced!jrswanson1 wrote:Those two Enfields, they wouldn't be New Zealand marked, would they?
