Would you have shot her?

I've always been taught not to shoot what you can't see but others are trained to use the darkness to their advantage. Would you have shot her or not?

Yes I absolutely would have. She came into their home, refused commands (they said they were yelling at her) so yes I would have put an end to the possible threat. Cudos!

Absolutly! Im at home where no one but my wife and myself are at and I can clearly see someone in my house who does not back away after the first warning of back away. I don't care how innocent you look! Male or female.. A threat is a threat. I am not going to wait to see if you pull out a gun to rob, hurt, or kill me or my loved ones. The roomates story is sketchy.. but w/e.
I invite everyone to come to the range with me. It's as simple as letting me know what day you want to meet up.

Gotta agree with the shooters here,.. if after a warning, the threat continues ,shooting is the most viable option seeing that yelling had no effect.

No doubt about it, if the intruder was not listening to commands, I would shoot.

Glad the shooter was able to protect themselves and not get into trouble.

I can think of many things to do with a hot drunk chick that wandered into my house besides shooting her.

I guess you're thinking the humane thing to do, I guess, would be to pin her down until she sobered up? :hysterical: What about your wife? If she's anything like SWMBO, she'd shoot both you and the intruder.

Yeah, I probably would have shot the girl.

It's her own damn fault for getting drunk enough to trespass into a strangers house. In my opinion, the girl is blessed beyond belief. She should take this as a sign that God loves her and wants her to do great things with her life, starting with quitting drinking.

You wouldn't get in so much trouble if you didn't have such a dirty mind.

I agree with most here, after a warning... you shoot... if you even give a warning depending on the empeding threat, but I think part of this story was missed. I believe I heard that the house was left unlocked for whatever reason not entirely sure but I believe a locked door may have prevented it... netherless I would have shot. Happy they didn't get charged with shooting.

Well, then, by all means make the most of it. I do.

This is a tough one...not on the law, which is clear, but on the question in the OP as to what would we do. Did the homeowner warn her he would shoot? Did the girl have a chance to say anything that would have given a clue as to her non-threat status?

One thing I've learned from the story - I will set up a motion switch to turn the lights on rooms that have outside access if there is movement in them after we retire for the night. That way the target area will be lit while my safe room remains dark. Should be an easy retrofit.

That's a good idea, right there. Motion sensor lights are good on the outside, too.
