Taurus Judge

Post by allingeneral »

I went to GM last night and was looking around a bit. Wasn't looking to buy a new gun, but you know how it is...ya gotta look. So, I was looking at a Taurus .357 with a 2-inch barrel to see how it would fit in the holster that I was buying (I actually have the .38 SPL, but the .357 was real close in size). Anyway, sitting down on the lower shelf was the Taurus "Judge".

Man, that's a monster of a pistol! It's a .45 Caliber Long. The cylinder on that thing must be 3 inches long by itself! What a monster! :fireright:

Iv'e seen some demo's on TV and that thing is BAD. I shot a .460 S&W and when you pull the trigger on that you know you have unleashed the beast. At around $60.00 for a box of ammo we were shooting, I'm glad it wasn't mine. That was a box of 20.

OUCH!!

I'm interested in getting a .45, but not that one! I think I want to find a .45 GAP. After doing a little research, it seems that it might make a decent CC gun. GM only had .45 ACP's though - so - NO SALE!

I really like my XD in .45ACP. For a full size gun it conceals very well.

Mine is in the mail. Got it on gunbroker.com for a price at which I'm not considerably proud. I plan to use it for safety when backpacking.

Hey guys:
I bought mine abt six months ago,or 38 boxs of ammo ago.Stainless with Nice rubber grips.
I love this gun so much for my vehicle carry gun .Its not really that heavy and it shoots great
I load it with 5 rounds 45 long colt , when camping and hiking Load with two 45 colt and three
410 gage buck shot ,ya never know when you might run into a crazy bear,or wild dog.
Just the sound of the gun will scare off anything unless its deaf already.
We by the 45 colt shells here in Indiana for $35.00-$40.00.
As for every day carry ,no I prefer my 45 auto which I carry even to church.
My wife even carries a 45 ,although she does not carry to church ,because of the kids ,but she
leaves it in the car.
We own a few other guns and will respond abt them later.
Do I suggest the Judge ,Well yes I do they are very costly for a wheel gun ,BUT THE WOW
Factor is worth it . :pistol:

That's a pretty neat story skt. Thanks for sharing it. Looks like it was a good day out on the range to me and the Judge may not be the best for defensive purposes, it still would be a lot of fun to have :)

You have to be careful what shotshells you use in it.

Find a brand that works and stick with it.

There have been some other issues with the Judge too.

I would certainly not recommend using the shotgun shells for self defense over the 45 colt.

Frankly Taurus makes some other outstanding handguns that I would buy over the Judge.

But hey, that's why Taurus makes so many different typoes of guns.

To try to please eveyone.

Enjoy your new Judge and have fun.
