Chantilly junk show

Post by joeshmo »

I was quite disappoined at the show this weekend. There must have been over 200 tables with airsoft guns, purses, coins, art, womens scarves and quite a few booths of jewelry to say the least that did not pertain to firearm accessories or military gear. Years ago C&E had a decent show at Chantilly but now it has turned into complete and utter JUNK. There are many ppl and other sites that have been trying to get tables with quality products, but the owners of the show have refused or not responded. If you go to the show I am calling for a boycott!! They have lost touch of what a show is all about and no longer serve the interest of avid firearm enthusists such as ourselves. I suggest everyone to contact the nations gun show via email or phone (on the main site) if you were displeased with the show this weekend. Again many others try to get their foot in the door and cant because the junk dealers have set shop and will not budge and c&e nations gun show will not boot the JUNK dealers. I know some did find good deals but overall it has turned into a show that lost touch with it's crowd. There use to be more much more tables with smaller sellers which made the show great.

I guess the biggest testimony is to call them and tell them that I don't even attend anymore for that reason. I mean, I'm sure there is a collector out there that is looking for cheap-o knives from no-name brands, but it is called the nations gun show.

Yeah, I went there and got the same impressions. Guns shows now a days are really only good to get surplus ammo.
I had a SCAR 17 and 16. I also had a bunch of Glocks and a couple H&K pistols. Oh and a DDM4, but I sold everything when our government told me these dangerous tools can actually hurt someone. Apparently they grow legs and go on killing sprees.

I'm for the 75% rule.

75% of the crap on your table needs to be guns, knives, ammo, or related gear.

We can set aside a few tables for food vending as its nice to be able to get a snack in there as it takes 3+ hours to walk the show =).

It's not just CHANTILLY! The guy who runs them acts like an ass to the dealers, the customers, and workers, but he sure LOOOOVVVEEESSSS our money!

Personally? If I were a dealer? i would bond with other decent dealers, and start my OWN assocation, and get venues that are more GUN FRIENDLY!

I agree. I went there recently and aside from Eotech you cant even find nice name brand optics there either. I was looking for some glass for a bolt action rifle and all they had was cheap stuff i never even heard of.

The past few shows around the state have been more of flea markets than gun shows.

Like one person mentioned there are also a lot of no name knives there. the one booth i did find that actually had some benchmades, the guy proceeded to lecture me when i asked if they had any auto knives. Yea, thanks i know the laws (from what i understand they are legal to own in va, just not to carry). Then when i told him i already had a benchy auto and a microtech otf he looked shocked and offended.
I'll just get my ammo from CTD or midway from now on. That was the only reason left to go. Most of the vendors sold new guns for retail cost so now you are paying the same as anywhere else plus entry fee

I see this show turning into a giant indoor flea market...sans guns. I go to this show every time (even though I say never again) just because its close. It is becoming a real let down. I have watched the progression of things the past few years. Beef Jerky, Coins, Paintings, Jewelry, Clothing, Stickers, Dollar Store tools, As seen on TV, Let me shine your shoes, and the guy selling rocking chairs.

Give up, move along, nothing more to see here.

I used to go 3 out of 4 Chantilly shows. Not any more, skipped all in the last year. Just can't justify the time trouble and cost for an overcrowded venue with an iffy inventory. I miss it but not enough to go back any time soon, especially after seeing all the negative reviews.

I stopped by in Feb, bought a pistol from Trader Jerry. I arrived an hour or so before it opened on a Friday, so I was able to get in and out fairly quickly.
However - I stopped by because I drive past it (within a 1/2 mile) on the way home from work.
I was disappointed at the number of non-firearm related crap tables, and also disappointed at the number of firearm vs. firearm accessories tables - to many accessories. Bottom line, just not that many guns to choose from.
Prices are no better than what you can get at the local brick and mortar.
So yeah - I wouldn't drive more than 5 miles to get to it, and I would not go in on a Saturday, period.

I went all the time with friends but when I do not have need for something there I do not go. I wanted to get another HK USPc this time in 9mm but with the prices online being 700+ I might as well just go to my local shop and pay $700 new for the HK.

Also with everyone at the shows saleing low end Ar-15 products I have not gone in awhile. I uselly just try and get some en-blocs for my M1 and some ammo cans but the pawn shops beat the gun show in ammo can prices now.

It would actually just be nice if they removed the non gun stuff and didn't even refill because that's a lot more room to walk around haha.

Sometimes you cant even walk down an aisle there are so many people in it bumping into each other

So if the gunshows are this bad, and the guy running them isn't listening... and the dealers prices are horrible compared to our local shops/Online... the only reason I can see that we go is to spend time with like minded folks...

If I had a gun shop? I would advertise for opencarry.org, and concealed carry sites, and here on the VGOF a "meet and greet", and have a local food vendor outdoors in the parking like like a festival, and just have folks stop by.

You know you're gonna have some "impulse" sales, but you'd also have a rep of supporting your customers.

I dunno guys, I'm just tired of filling that bastages wallet.

Email the Nations Gun show and tell them... I know many good vendors trying to get their foot in the door that have quality product. Stay home and dont put money in their pocket until they clean the junk show up.

Reverenddel - something is in the works just like you stated
