A suggestion to correct our current political predicament
A suggestion to correct our current political predicament
Got this in my email today:
Dear American liberals, leftists, social progressives, socialists, Marxists and Obama supporters, et al: We have stuck together since the late 1950's, but the whole of this latest election process has made me realize that I want a divorce. I know we tolerated each other for many years for the sake of future generations, but sadly, this relationship has run its course.
Our two ideological sides of America cannot and will not ever agree on what is right so let's just end it on friendly terms. We can smile and chalk it up to irreconcilable differences and go our own way.
Here is a model separation agreement: Our two groups can equitably divide up the country by landmass each taking a portion. That will be the difficult part, but I am sure our two sides can come to a friendly agreement. After that, it should be relatively easy! Our respective representatives can effortlessly divide other assets since both sides have such distinct and disparate tastes.
We don't like redistributive taxes so you can keep them. You are welcome to the liberal judges and the ACLU. Since you hate guns and war, we'll take our firearms, the cops, the NRA and the military. You can keep Oprah, Michael Moore and Rosie O'Donnell (You are, however, responsible for finding a bio-diesel vehicle big enough to move all three of them).
We'll keep the capitalism, greedy corporations, pharmaceutical companies, Wal-Mart and Wall Street. You can have your beloved homeless, homeboys, hippies and illegal aliens. We'll keep the hot Alaskan hockey moms, greedy CEO's and rednecks. We'll keep the Bibles and give you NBC and Hollywood . You can make nice with Iran and Palestine and we'll retain the right to invade and hammer places that threaten us. You can have the peaceniks and war protesters.
When our allies or our way of life are under assault, we'll help provide them security. We'll keep our Judeo-Christian values.. You are welcome to Islam, Scientology, Humanism and Shirley McClain. You can also have the U.N.. but we will no longer be paying the bill.
We'll keep the SUVs, pickup trucks and oversized luxury cars. You can take every Subaru station wagon you can find. You can give everyone healthcare if you can find any practicing doctors.
We'll continue to believe healthcare is a luxury and not a right.
We'll keep The Battle Hymn of the Republic and the National Anthem. I'm sure you'll be happy to substitute Imagine, I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing, Kum Ba Ya or We Are the World. We'll practice trickle down economics and you can give trickle up poverty your best shot.
Since it often so offends you, we'll keep our history, our name and our flag. Would you agree to this? If so, please pass it along to other like minded liberal and conservative patriots and if you do not agree, just hit delete. In the spirit of friendly parting, I'll bet you ANWAR which one of us will need whose help in 15 years.
Sincerely,
John J. Wall

Let them keep the "cops", Wall Street, the Battle Hymn and the national anthem, too.
Let them keep every last vestige of their centrist, nationalist imagery and reminders of imperial thuggery, starting with their flag of occupation.
I'll take a Subaru or Toyota with 150,000 miles over a brand-new GM product any day.
This letter leaves an awful lot to be desired. Its writer is a Yankee imperialist halfwit.
The "right to invade and hammer" places that threaten us is part-and-parcel to the predicament we are in right now. "We" have invaded countries on every continent under the auspices of "spreading democracy" and "liberating" foreign nations, but haven't given one iota of thought to the despicable and deplorable punitive legislation being pressed on our own people.

Now that Obama Owns GM and Chrysler, I'm sure the cars will improve....NOT!
Now that the Unions own a piece of the company they will show some loyalty....NOT!
If we really want nation building, maybe its time for us to go into Mexico. Run by Warlords since 1810. Now its Narco Warlords. I would rather have our troops in our hemisphere and not "Over there." However, Obama seems to be increasing our commitments to Afghanistan.
The real theme of that letter is succession. When we stop arguing, that is all that is left. The writer was making it humorous, but it is serious. Especially when every American owes 191,000 dollars in national debt and rising.

If you have to explain this to someone you are most likely wasting your time doing so. On the one hand some feel that posting open invites to "militia" meetings is perfectly fine while the posting of something intended to be humorous is an opportunity to attempt to create animosity within the forum. The one thing I dislike about forums is that you usually can find a few members who seem to make it a point to try and piss off other members.Bobtail1911 wrote:The real theme of that letter is succession. Yes but posting open invites to "militia" meetings also invites an opportunity to wear striped clothes. Its stupid, dumb, and could expose illegal activities.Moccasin wrote:On the one hand some feel that posting open invites to "militia" meetings is perfectly fine while the posting of something intended to be humorous is an opportunity to attempt to create animosity within the forum. Don't mince words fellas.
Nothing illegal about exercising God-given rights. Could save your life someday. You might want to look into it. 2nd Amendment and all...

Re: A suggestion to correct our current political predicament
This is why they say not to discuss politics or religion. But what fun is that? Now, the militia separatist view is too extreme in my view and in the view of the government. I think that we should tone down any discussions of secession, as it no longer applies. it will never happen, and the only thing that discussing it will get you is a free ticket to a federal facility.Moccasin wrote:On the one hand some feel that posting open invites to "militia" meetings is perfectly fine while the posting of something intended to be humorous is an opportunity to attempt to create animosity within the forum. I know that we're not happy with the current situation. There are A LOT of folks who are unhappy. but who do they have to blame? Either they blame themselves for voting for Obama or they blame themselves for not voting. Most of us here in the forum voted for McCain, so we have reason to complain

Now, the best course of action is to move forward smartly. Don't look back at the past and attempt to bring back old thoughts of secession. Look forward at what we can do to keep our country strong, while not giving up our liberties and living our lives the way we want to live them. Separatist discussions do nothing but take away from our credibility and take away from the overall effectiveness of the Conservative Movement.

Re: A suggestion to correct our current political predicament
If you voted for McAmnesty you certainly do have reason to complain.
Democrat. Republican. Same thing.
Secession is how this country got its start and it is not only viable, but it is exercised all over the world as a solution to intercultural differences.
And, ironically, the gubmint supports everyone else's decisions to secede. Our "credibility" was lost when we allowed the federal leviathan to trample all over the rule of law. "We" did nothing. "We" watched it happen.

I categorically disagree.I think that we should tone down any discussions of secession, as it no longer applies. it will never happen, and the only thing that discussing it will get you is a free ticket to a federal facility.

Re: A suggestion to correct our current political predicament
You call McCain "McAmnesty". Well, you aren't going to find any single politician with whom you agree 100%. The best you can do is vote for the one who best agrees with your interests. If you are looking for total agreement, then you will need to secede and be your own state, on your own land, with your own rules (which will never happen).wylde007 wrote:If you voted for McAmnesty you certainly do have reason to complain.

I don't agree with "Amnesty" in any way, shape or form, but I do believe that the Republicans reflect my interests across the broader spectrum; and that is why they get my vote.
As for your last statement - I have to agree that "We" watched it happen for too long and now we are beyond the point of no return in many regards. But as conservatives, "We" never really had anything to fight for. We have liberals all around us fighting for gay marriage and health care and rights for Mexicans, but "We" were happy with the way things were - we had no agenda, we just wanted to be left alone to live as we choose. Now the liberals have taken things far enough that they are beginning to really encroach upon our way of life.
However - you can't draw a line down the middle of the country anymore and say "Liberals must live north of the Mason Dixon Line and the rest of us "God-loving folks with morals" will live in the South" It just can't and won't work that way.

Re: A suggestion to correct our current political predicament
I know it won't work "that" way, but there is too great a rift, schism... whatever you want to call it... between the working middle class, the political elites and the entitlement class.
Breakdowns now occur more along rural/urban lines than north/South, but the general abuses are the same. Money is being transferred from private to public under a rubric of social engineering and "diversity" which is destroying, HAS DESTROYED the fiber of liberty in this country.
I think you might be surprised (I don't know you well enough) but on some other sites I participate I am considered quite moderate. I am furious, but there are people out there who are downright livid.
As for the "party" politics I can say without reservation that I believe that system has failed to served and has only served to create further separation amongst the People. What I find amazing is that even after all of the disgusting lies, deceit and dishonor pResident after pResident has wrought on us the majority continue to elect one or the other for some misguided vanity, that they think "This time, it will be different!" It won't. Not ever.
That's not pessimism. It's pragmatism. The system is broken. The Militia of the People, whether you agree with it or not, and I'm judging "not", is still a Constitutionally protected right, regardless of the government's stance.
There are groups of men and women who are more and more considering it a viable option in defense of their liberties. Heck, until 1844 there wasn't even a professional police force anywhere in Amerikha. Who enforced and executed the law then? The Militia. Having a professional police force empowered by statutory law does not necessarily abrogate our responsibility and duty to our communities and our own rights.
I can see that this site is not one that is interested particularly in taking that route. I can accept that and move on, but I would appreciate perhaps that difference of opinion not be used as an excuse to disparage. I'm not asking anyone to agree with me, just be respectful.
Which I believe I have been.

All we EVER ASKED was to be left alone. It's exactly what the South said in 1861.we had no agenda, we just wanted to be left alone to live as we choose.

Re: A suggestion to correct our current political predicament
You are correct and we have discussed this briefly before, but you refuse to let it go. In the interest of keeping our site "On target", I would respectfully request that you abstain from further discussions of secession, revolution or any related matters. Too many times, your posts have leaned in a direction that we do not want to be involved. We do not want this site to be known that way. If you have input on a topic that is specific, on topic and within the bounds of good order and discipline, then please share your thoughts. Otherwise, please cease a desist.wylde007 wrote:I can see that this site is not one that is interested particularly in taking that route.
Our two-party system will never be replaced without a revolution. I am not a revolutionary, and I would venture to guess that 99% of the others in this forum hold nearly the same views. Talk of revolution and secession within this forum is not acceptable. There are other forums where you can share those types of thoughts - please leave them there.

Re: A suggestion to correct our current political predicament
Yes but the problem is that as soon as congress passes a law - whether its constitutional or not - it takes precedence. When you start conversations like this (militia) it can easily be construed into something illegal. Read the links below. The first deals with the militia and some of us might fit into that. There are special rules governing militia and the enactment. The second link describes those. The third link deals with more serious interpretations of what some may apply to this topic so tread lightly.wylde007 wrote:If you voted for McAmnesty you certainly do have reason to complain.

Secession is a murky area of the law but IMO in this context it would indeed be deemed an illegal act and maybe prosecuted under the law cited in link 3 above. Btw IANAL.
