NRA Range Questions

Post by boss »

I'm in the market for a range membership. Just a couple of questions to those who have been to the NRA range recently...

What is the wait time/availability on Wednesday and Thursday nights, from 8-10 PM?
What is the wait time/availability on Saturday and Sunday mornings, at opening (8:30 AM)?

Please include approximate date of last visit. Thanks everybody!

I was there about a month ago. Never been on a week night, but I'm told they can be just as busy as a weekend morning.

Saturday and Sunday Mornings - if you are not one of the first 15 or 20 folks in line, then you'll probably have about a one hour wait. So get your name on the list, then go check out the museum if you've never been before - its free. Late Saturday or Sunday afternoon - I have waited as long as two hours.

Saturday Mornings: Arrive 0700-0715 for a guaranteed slot in the first group.
After that, an hour wait or so - I have never waited more than an hour and a half or so.

Weekday evenings, hit or miss - sometimes I walk right into a lane, sometimes I wait an hour. The same thing for weekdays.

By far my favorite range in the NOVA area, although I have never tried Silver Eagle.

Thanks for the input guys. I'll certainly have to check out Silver Eagle. I hadn't realized they allow most calibers. Its about a 45 minute drive for me so at 1.5 hours just for driving and the potential hour to 2 hour wait at NRA makes the two ranges about equal.

Good to know. I do plan on taking some extended lunch breaks myself.
