What's your smallest pocket pistol

Post by sigster »

Here's mine.

My wife found this in one of the old aspirin tins in a box of sewing stuff back during the summer. It has about 25 of the little pin fire cartridges that was in the tin with it.
Sitting in the office one night we wondered how loud it would be. The cartridge has no projectile so my wife loaded one up and aimed it at the floor and squeezed off a shot. Holy Smokes!!! After dragging the wife from behind the sofa and fetching the cat down off the curtains, my 70 year old father came running in yelling WHO SHOT?? :hysterical:

This thing is about as loud as a .22 with stingers. It breaks down just like a shotgun.

Is it capable of a projectile, and you only have blanks - or - incapable of projectiles?

Either way, neat little piece! :lovegunporn:

It has an open bore but it's called a pinfire cap gun. They were made in austria and were intended for watch fobs from what I can gather.
The bore is 2mm, I wouldn't want to put a short piece of coathanger in the barrel and shoot it at anything I cared about :packin:

I believe there was one similar to that on Pawn Stars awhile back.

I wouldn't want to hold it and fire it with the bore obstructed.

Damn expensive ammo!
25 blanks for $42.50 at Pinfireguns.com

OOPS!!
The site is still up but he is sold out of EVERYTHING!
Prices are sky high on the guns and ammo.

Funny thing is, I remember those things being sold, mail order, in ads in the back of comic books and kids magazines in the 50's and 60's for, what how would be considered, next to nothing.
I'm pretty sure that hearing damage caused their removal from the market.

OBTW - Yes, both lead and stainless steel 2mm ball ammo is/was available for those things.

Sweet, I wonder what's it's worth?

I've seen them on ebay from time to time. The prices are usually all over the place, from $40 - $200 depending on when you look. They also made a rifle version as well.

It's pretty useful for scaring the crows away from the cats food bowl but not nearly as fun as the 12g. (for the crows, not the cat)

Since those things can be loaded with a 2mm bullet I wonder what the BATFE's opinion of them is.

IIRC a few years ago there was a big flap about the importing of toys like that from Europe. The anti-gunners really got their knickers in a knot over one being offered for sale here. It was described as a "spy" weapon.
