Anyone have a preference?
Seen reviews on Bushmaster ACR Enhanced but only in 5.56
Also FNH SCAR 16S in 5.56
Like the idea of ACR modular for changing calibers
Some have had issues with the safety on the right side hitting their hands with a high grip
Not much on the Barrett M468 for review either, or at least, not that I have found yet.

I have a Mini-14 in 6.8 SPC which I am slowly improving, and don'e own an AR, but I read a lot of forums related to the 6.8 SPC.
Perhaps some of these links will help you get input on 6.8 uppers, complete rifles and ammunition. The 68 Forums were the most help to me on the SPC and SPC II chambers.

This is the ammo manufacturer who makes the largest selection of 6.8 SPC ammo. They also make "Tactical" loads which should not be fired in the old, original SAAMI spec 6.8 SPC chamber. You can order factory ammo, brass and bullets directly from SSA, and MidwayUSA and Cheaper Than Dirt carry a pretty good selection of factory ammo.
Most AR manufacturers seem to have switched to the SPC II chamber which has a better throat-leade. Seems to allow up to about 100 fps velocity increase and lowers chamber pressure. I apologize if you have already read all that.

A SPC (SAAMI) chamber can be reamed to one of the SPC II chambers and I may get that done to my Mini-14. But even without the improved chamber the 6.8 is quite a powerful cartridge in a length that fits the mag well in an AR.
I think some other members here have AR rifles in 6.8 SPC - I just can recall whom. One thing I noticed immediately is that is is very light recoil for a centerfire cartridge.
Have fun with it.

OleMan,
Thanks for the reply.
Still researching uppers, and lowers
Not everyone makes a 6.8mm
Would like to have a Noveske Barrel
Want free floating barrel
Like the idea of the Adcor piston system as it is free floating unlike the PWS by Rainier
Both minimize carrier tilt

If you're still looking, check out Bison Armory. Their 6.8 uppers are tack drivers. I have one, and I'm never going to sell it. EVER. It is the most accurate rifle I own.

jrswanson1,
Thanks for the information. Sent them an e-mail this morning.
Ben Triplett at Bison Armory answered my questions
They will have the match barrels in about 2 weeks and will post on their website.
Looking at Mega uppers and lowers
Looking forward to this project!

Ben put my upper together.
AR15 style in 6.8 SPC Which one and why?
Ben at Bison is top notch. Also nobody has mentioned Harrison at AR performance. Both guys are great to deal with.
This is my Bison 18" SPR.

I'm a member of 68Forums.com and it seems to me that ARP and Bison are usually described as the best. Some people also seem to like Stag's ARs. Harrison at ARP (I think his last name is Beene) designed the 6.8 DMR chamber, which now seems to be called the 6.8 X 43. It is purported to be the most inherently accurate 6.8 chamber variant.lc619fr wrote:Ben at Bison is top notch. Also nobody has mentioned Harrison at AR performance. Both guys are great to deal with.

Not really up on ARs but those are the three that owners seem to me to have little or know problems with.
I have a Mini-14 in 6.8 - just because I am fond of the Garand - style action. Of course Ruger went with the original SAAMI chamber 6.8 SPC. I'm having it reamed to the SPC II chamber so I can shoot Silver State Armory's tactical loads. You probably know already that most are 6.8 uppers are now SPC II or 6.8 X 43 - but the older ones can be reamed to SPC II.

Re: AR15 style in 6.8 SPC Which one and why?
We've built quite a few 6.8 SPC variants of our Custom SAR-XV Gladius'. Both Bison and Noveske barrels are top notch. You can't go wrong with either. For the free float, if you want more a tactical style then consider the YHM or MI Quad rail. For a hunting rifle, we would probably recommend a VTAC FF.
If you're still looking for an upper, then also consider White Oak Armament at http://www.whiteoakarmament.com. They put out very high quality products, and have great customer service.
Thanks,
Ryan
