Sig P239

Post by maljay »

Just bought a new P239 9mm today at gun show but have to wait for fl transfer to VA. I wanted to buy a good holster for the gun while I wait for delivery but was stopped by the question if it was an SAS model or not. Visually, I do not see a difference. Can someone help? Does the serial # help? Thanks.

When you purchased it from the gun show, it would have been displayed as a SAS. I believe the slide is much smoother, dehorned and also has markings on the slide that say Custom Shop or something like that.

Congrats on the p239. It's in my regular rotation as a CCW piece. What type of holster are you looking to get? OWB? IWB? Leather?

my sas gen 2 p239 in .40s&w says "Sig Sauer P239 SAS" on the front left side of the slide and carries the Sig Sauer custom shop logo on the front right side of the slide. love this pistol! it's my edc and carried iwb in a Milt Sparks vm2.

Thanks for the replies. I was afraid you would say what you did. Unfortunately, I did not know to look at the slide and did not realize there was that much of a difference. I guess I will just have to wait until it arrives to know for sure.

Bryanrheem, I am going to buy the High Noon Tailgate? I have the High Noon Down Under for my other carry guns but the Sig is a little heavier and I thought the extra tail would help distribute the weight a little better. The High Noon are a little expensive but really comfortable and I like the leather that keeps the butt of the slide or hammer away from the skin. I do not know why other holster makers don't add that piece. It really makes a difference, especially while seated. Thanks again for the replies.

I forgot to mention that I plan to carry IWB. I guess you would probably figure that out if you look at the holster I said I was going to buy.

I have a High Noon also as well as a Comptac. While I loved the thin grip on the p239, I ended up getting the Hogue grip. It increased the thickness, but the comfort now of the grip is worth it!

It's the best less than $20 mod I ever made to a pistol.

Here is my SAS Gen 2 9mm. its factory dehorned, has the SRT, and night sights. As mentioned the my Sig has the logos on the left side. my EDC piece.
For an IWB, check into http://rgrizzleleather.com/ for custom made holsters.
Ryan is an active member over at the sigforum. I saw one of his holsters and had to have one. The IWB (City Slicker) is a lot smaller than a CB or Minotaur. Very comfortable.
