Concealed Carry on Mt. Vernon grounds?
I can't find anything online. Worse case I'll wait and see the sign on the way in. Just wondering if anyone knows if there is a sign prohibiting weapons/firearms at the door at Mt Vernon....as I learned today there is at Fedex....
Thanks!
Thanks!

I went to Monticello recently, and wondered the same thing. It was a school field trip, and I chose not to carry, as I was riding on the bus that was specifically for public school use. If I had driven separately, I would have carried, and there were no signs that prohibited it when we got there.
The website states that Mount Vernon is held by a non-profit association. I'm thinking that you're OK to carry. I would CC if you have your permit.
I have CC'd to places where it is typically OK to carry, but then encountered an unexpected sign. Then faced the decision of making the long trek to the car, leaving everyone waiting for me, or just pressing on, knowing that I'm not in compliance with the law. I've done both.
Yeah, I know the naysayers will say to never compromise, and I generally follow that. But I have compromised a couple times... concealed is concealed.

Thanks for replies. I will post when I go and have an answer. I have ccp. As far as carrying where prohibited...with all the chest thumping about constitutional rights for "law abiding"citizens, I prefer to avoid hypocrisy and abide.

that's a pretty dangerous place, so be sure to carry a few extra mags.

I was there in Nov (Veteran's Day) and I don't recall seeing any signs. But, I went for sightseeing, not worrying.
Bring binoculars with as once the tour is done you can sit on the rear porch. It overlooks the Potomac River and you may spot a bald eagle flying over the river. Since the river is kinda far, it will look like a crow or seagull flying, until you use the binoculars and see the distinct feathers. They're a beautiful site (and quite numerous) in that section of the river.
Enjoy Mt Vernon and wear walking shoes.

Was there with the family last month and cc'd. Saw no signs prohibiting as I bought my tickets so I pressed on. As stated before concealed is concealed. Keep it that way and no one is the wiser.

I just realized how old this is so this is probably a settled issue.

It's far from the oldest thread to ever be dug up. And I think your input was necessary to help answer the thread. Thankscwfunrider wrote:I just realized how old this is so this is probably a settled issue.
