Re: Where did you carry today? V1.0
since I don't have my CHP (yet) I OC everywhere I go and have really had no problems anywhere in Hampton Roads, until yesterday and even that wasn't a 'problem' I went into the Lafayette Branch of the Norfolk Public Library with my CW9 holstered on my hip and was informed by library personnel that guns were prohibited by the library's code of conduct and that there was even a sign on the door stating so. I politely showed her the sign that prohibited "unlawful weapons" and told here there was nothing illegal about my gun. She was polite and asked her supervisor who in turn told her that I was fine and it was perfectly legit to carry a gun in the library. All in all I have to say it was still a good experience as everyone was polite and now the lady knows better.

CC my 1911 in Winchester over the weekend:
Martins on rt 7
Bears Pawn on rt 7
Ruby Tuesdays on rt 50
And a few other small shops. Never got a reaction from anyone since they didn't know I was carrying. I'll OC on the next day that's warm enough to go without a jacket.

OC'd a Heritage Arms "Rough Rider" for a brief visit to where I work, then to the grocery store.
My Massachusetts raised boss was shocked to find out that it was legal in Virginia. Her college-aged son suddenly finds Virginia to be a much cooler place to live.
Grocery store was uneventful.

With the cooler weather I can wear a jacket or coat, so instead of my pocket pistol Bodyguard 380 I conceal carried my CZ75 Compact on an OWB Don Hume holster. Took the jacket off to gas up the car at the Exxon on baron Cameron road, for a road trip to Luray yesterday. In nine years I have only seen one (apparently) civilian open carry in the Reston area. It was about 2 months ago at the Harris Teeter. So to many of you this is no big deal, but I am just starting to get used to the idea of open carry. With only a few minutes at the pump I'm sure no one even noticed. Later that day my wife and I were in the Artisan Grill in Luray having lunch. Not too many people there since it was arond 2 o'clock. But no one said a word to me.
Whether its open or concealed, for me, having a gun on my person in public puts a burden of responsibility on me to always maintain situational awareness. I want to get more used to wearing it and see it as something similar to having life vests and fire extinguishers on a boat - they are there to protect you and you hope you never have to use them.

Carried the G27 Concealed all of yesterday. Ate lunch, went to Wal-Mart, Target, Best Buy, GameStop, etc.
Zero issues. Just how I like it. It's times like that which make me VERY happy I got my CHP. People can't worry about a weapon they can't see.

I did easy targets last week:
CC my Bersa series 95 380 to Bass Pro shops, where the guy at the entrance asked if I had a permit and then let me through,
Then OC to the Expo center for the Gun show. Hate having those ties wrapped around my weapon, but I love those things.
Now the Bersa is traded in for my new Walter 380 which is going to be OC'd today to Jiffy Lube, Walmart, and maybe a quick stop at SSG Tactical.

I CCed from house to Blue Ridge Arsenal to the NRA Range to the 7-11 and then back home. GP100 with .38 Special +P loads and two speed loaders. I need a new holster, the one I have is fine for CC but there's no room on the belt for speed loader holders on the strong hand side.

I CC'd at Bass Pro in Tidewater last week. The guys at the door never questioned me because they didn't see the gun, and I didn't see a need to tell them I had it.

Carried out to eat at Chilli's today. Ruger LCR .38 spcl +p w/ Corbon rounds. Carried in a pocket holster, with a reload in the other pocket

I went to Walmart, cc, 380BG, iwb, no problems.
I had to leave it at home this evening because I had travel to a military base. I felt completely "wrong", kind of nervous and on edge. I didn't like the long commute down the highway by myself. I felt very vulnerable.

Their sign in the front stated all weapons must be checked, so I complied. In hindsight, I must have not read the sign completely. They may be like Gander Mountain, where you only need to check your sidearm if the gun will be evaluated at the firearm counter.

If you want total security, go to prison. There you're fed, clothed, given medical care and so on. The only thing lacking... is freedom.

CCd my new PT709 to McDuff park to let my little one ride her bike, the shopping errands all around Fredericksburg, including stops at Starbucks, Wallyworld and Guitar Center. All was well.

Everywhere I go, It's my right and I'm going to exercise it! For the people that OC, I think that you're looking for problems. This isn't the wild west. That's my opinion . . People still get freaked out when they see a gun. Silence is golden, If you can't see it, then no questions will be asked. There are some places where you can not bring a firearm into, but do they check? I've gone to the bank with mine with no problems. My bank doesn't allow it. Really? They should. Bank robbers have guns, right? Why shouldn't the customers have one? Oh, Only the off duty cop that happens to be in the bank when the s**t hits the fan can do something to stop a criminal act. I will not stand for it. My name is Bill, and I have a CHP, and carry a glock 27 w/ a 15rnd clip. Bad guys beware.....
Nice to see a lot of you have a 27. Be safe, Be smart. Happy shooting...

Once I got home to Charlottesville, I OC'd around town a bit to run some errands. No issues.
