EAA Witness classic 9mm range report

Post by Kreutz »

Out of the box with winchester white box wally-mart target ammo, first use.

Great groups right out of the box, within a test few rounds (recoil is snappy but clean) I got to business and managed extremely tight groups at 7 yards (within the width of a quarter), and consistent groups at 15 yards of about 1 inch radius. Was able to head shot the target 3 out of 5 times at about 25 yards.

Shot about 80 rounds without problems, and the gun is simple to clean.

The one thing about this weapon I dislike is the unpredictable slide mechanism...sometimes after putting the mag in it will automatically close and chamber...other times I have to do it manually via racking it or using the slide release. The force with which the magazine is loaded seems to have no role in this, and I found it somewhat unnerving.

Overall a great gun, holds 17 rounds, and costed me 327 new with tax.

That gun should not chamber a round without being commanded to do so. You need to get it looked at by a gunsmith or the factory. That could have serious consequences later on. IMHO

Where'd you pick it up, if you don't mind my asking?

Yeah, I'd get someone to look at it - the slide shouldn't randomly close on you like that...

"Slamming" mags in a lot of autos will cause slide drops .
failures to lock slide on last round are almost always Mag related .
may be New Gun Break in problem. need to run at LEAST 200 rounds through the gun before sending it back for warranty work.
Bad slide stop could have "gotten by" at plant

It's not a bug, it's a feature! Did you number your magazines so you can tell which ones cause this problem?
