I do not ever recommend going anywhere near DC. But if you must go there make sure your tags are up to date. Apparently they are throwing people in jail for having tags expired by a few days. Good Heavens--what type of world do we live in. What is next prison time for sneezing in public (a crime in many places).

Re: Near DC--check your tags
I remember my dad used to be notorius for letting his tags run out. He got pulled over by both State and local cops a time or two, and they just told him where the nearest DMV office was and told him to go straight there. Those were simpler times, but the cops in our small closeknit communities were good folks, too. The old man used to be on one of those advisory committees to the Governor back when John Dalton was Governor. Since he was handicapped, he was allowed to pull up and park right on Capitol Hill. One time he wheeled up and parked there with expired tags (which meant he'd driven 360 miles with them to get there). There were both Capitol Police and a State Police Sergent present. Instead of rousting or even ticketing him, they volunteered to go to the DMV office and buy his new tags (I think that was before decals) while he was in the meeting. Not the same deal, I know, but I'd be amazed to see the Va State Police or any local LEO arrest anybody for that unless they also had a warrant outstanding or were driving without a license. Virginia might be prone to zealous enforcement, but as a rule they're not chickensh!t. Looks like the same cannot be said for the DC constabulary.

Enforcing the laws of other jurisdictions? Guess that crime problem in DC is licked.
