where to get Winchester 231 and primers near Arlington

Post by wabbit »

Hi everyone,
I used to reload before moving to Arlington, VA, and would like suggestions for where to get a pound of Winchester 231 and some small pistol primers. I'm looking for some place that won't charge an arm and a leg for some powder. Thanks.

Rotsa Ruck ! Unless you order bulk, you're going to be paying premium for a # at a time.

I dont know how their prices are, but Sharpshooters in Lorton and Dawson's in Woodbridge should have it. I know Clark Bros in Bealton do as well, I usually buy my stuff there.

Sharpshooters has had relatively decent supplies of primers in for the past few months. IIRC most are CCI and I dont recall seeing any Winchester.
No more catchy slogans for me...I am simply fed up...4...four...4...2+2...

you can get it at Guns and Ammo warehouse in Manassas, Gander mountain in Winchester/Fredericksburgh, or the couple places listed above, or wait till the end of July and go to the Nations Gun Show in Chantilly and get it there.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I called some of the places mentioned and discovered it's better for me to just mail order from Wideners. I would like to support local stores, but with the cost of gas and the retail prices, I'll end up coming up ahead by mail order. If anyone wants to add to an order from Widener, we can split the cost of shipping and hazmat fees. I'm in Arlington so let me know if anyone is interested in combining orders.
Thanks.

The gun show is my recommendation. One lb bottle of W231 go for about $16 there and $26 at Clark Bros.

Mind me asking what Walmarts you shop at? I don't think I have ever seen powder at the Walmarts in my area. Of course that would be the NOVA area, so that definitely has an effect on what is available.
