It's my understanding prior to this in Cali you could OC an unloaded pistol...wtf was the point of that?
Anyone who voluntarily lives in Cali deserves every indignity their Overlords can think of. I'm counting on mandatory gay transspecies interracial marriages by 2020.
To eliminate racistbourgeoisfascist-ism of course.
California needs a thorough napalm and plutonium scrubbing or that turned up to 11 quake many of us have been waiting with baited breath for.

Re: California--officially gone to you know where
A positive spin to this is possible. California is not a shall issue state. Currently it is up to one of 58 County Sheriff's to decide if you have the need for a CCW. The inability to open carry might force more CCW applications and more pressure on the Sheriff's to issue permits. The courts will get involved in the end. Some counties issue for reasons such as self defense. Others deny everyone who applies. The calguns foundation is actively fighting for the rights of all gun owners in California.
The Governor was not 2nd Amendment friendly but he did veto the ammunition bill that would have hurt gun owners in the state drastically.
It is becoming the complete nanny state. The government is involved in everything and the libs have ruined the state. The more the government gets involved, the worse it gets.

I somehow fail to see the logic that a state that just make open carry illegal is going to suddenly reverse course and start permitting non-cronies of the judge to get carry permits.... Who exactly is going to pressure the Sheriff's office, again?9mmsteve wrote:A positive spin to this is possible. California is not a shall issue state. Currently, a number of Sheriff's are being pressured because they deny a permit to "joe" citizen but give a permit to a "joe" they favor or even worse deny permits to everyone. Open carry has been legal and now it will not be. The anti-open carry crowd feared what they saw. The courts in a law suit can't point to open carry and say: you can use open carry, a CCW is not needed. Now that open carry doesn't exist it might force more permits being issued. All of the anti-gun laws suck but the calguns foundation is able to use some of the existing law that doesn't make any sense against the anti's. Just my opinion only, it is very sad that they can legislate a right away; the gun laws are very draconian and don't do anything to solve crime. Look at any state or city with excessive gun laws and look at the crime rates........to bad the politicians are so stupid they can't see the nexus between unreasonable gun laws and high crime.CCFan wrote:I somehow fail to see the logic that a state that just make open carry illegal is going to suddenly reverse course and start permitting non-cronies of the judge to get carry permits.... Re: California--officially gone to you know where
That's my point. That's why I asked, who is going to apply the pressure?? The Sheriff's office is a political office - the only people who can realistically apply pressure are other politicians. Since Kalifornia isn't a "Shall Issue" state, nothing is going to "force" more permits to be issued....9mmsteve wrote:Currently, a number of Sheriff's are being pressured because they deny a permit to "joe" citizen but give a permit to a "joe" they favor or even worse deny permits to everyone. Under the statutory scheme, even if Plaintiffs are denied a concealed
weapon license for self-defense purposes from Yolo County, they are
still more than free to keep an unloaded weapon nearby their person,
load it, and use it for self-defense in circumstances that may occur
in a public setting. Yolo County’s policy does not substantially
burden Plaintiffs’ right to bear and keep arms. Therefore, rational
basis review applies.
The opinion of the court above might change because open carry as practiced in California no longer will exist.

Re: California--officially gone to you know where
Having recently escaped from the Peoples Republic of Maryland, another non shall-issue state where open carry is also NOT permitted (don'tcha just LOVE that?) - I'd say don't hold your breath. However CA seems very different than MD as they seem to be more active politically. That may help them. The sheep herd in MD just keeps on grazing along.9mmsteve wrote:A positive spin to this is possible. California is not a shall issue state. Thus the bright spot I can see is the possible backlash from gun owners who could very well start a campaign to reverse this nonsense.
