An Apology

Post by Yarddawg »

I recently made an inflammatory post. It really was not my intent for it to be that way. It was not meant to be directed at anyone in particular, however after going back and re-reading it, I can see how it was taken that way.

I have been under a bit a stress lately. My mother had two strokes last weekend, and has been in the hospital since then. I know that is no excuse for what I did. I know better!

In closing, I want to offer my sincerest apology to anyone that may have taken offense to my post. I have made quite a few friends while a member here, and I do not want to do anything to ruin that.

I hope that your mother recovers fully. That would stress me out, too!

I must have missed it -- I usually find the more inflamatory of your posts entertaining, anyway. Prayers and best wishes for your mother's speedy recovery!

I didn't hear the flame alarm go off in the moderator bullpen, so it can't be too bad.

More importantly, I hope your mother is feeling better soon.

Two strokes? Is it too early to tell if there will be long term damage? Some folks are lucky and can have as many as six without any residuals. Hope she's in that camp!

Missed it! Best wishes to you and your mom. Lost too many family members from strokes. Take it one day at a time my friend. Try to find something even something small that keeps your sanity in tact--I reccomend hot chocolate, but that is prob because I am a girl and pregnant.

Thanks everyone for the well wishes, I really do appreciate it.

As for mom, well she is one tough old bird! The strokes were on either side on the back of her brain. They said that these areas affect balance and vision. She is up walking the halls of the hospital and going up and down stairs unassisted. She did have what she described as a "whirly gig" in the corner of her left eye. That has now gone away. Just trying to get her blood thinned to the right viscosity now. I doubt that she will be going home today, I'm thinking more like Tuesday.

The strokes happened Friday night (her 81st birthday). Her only complaint was feeling disoriented so she didn't pay much mind to it. Saturday I went to her house and she seemed perfectly fine. Sunday morning she got up and drove herself to Church and decided to get checked out at a doc in a box on the way home. The called an ambulance to take her to the hospital which is when I found out about it. She called me from in the ambulance!

Anyhow, as I said, she seems to be doing remarkably well. Back to being onrie as all get out!

The whirly gig thing? Scintillating Scotoma - I've had those before bad enough where it skewed my vision to where I couldn't drive... evidently it's like a reboot of your optic CPU (different things can bring it on).

Hope the meds smooth things out for her - hang in there all of you.

Yeah moms are like that, tough as nails, grandmas too. It took three forms of cancer and diabetes to finally bring my grandma down, god rest her soul, and she still lived to ripe old age.

I'm glad to hear your mom could go home, I hope she continues to improve!

Glad to hear the prognosis is good, but you left out a really important bit...can she still shoot the Desert eagle one handed? :pistol:
