I have to be a resident to buy a handgun?

Post by mspan90 »

I just found out today there is a federal law that says you have to be a resident of the state that you are buying the handgun in to buy a handgun!
Im from Ms visiting Virginia beach for work for 5 weeks and went in to buy a sr9c I have been saving money for. Sounds like an infringement on my right to bear arms.

You can buy it here. It just can't be transferred to you here. You'll need to arrange to have it shipped to a ffl in your home state, where they'll run the nics check and transfer it to you.

Correct. You cannot take possession of it here but you can certainly purchase it and have it sent to a home state FFL.

This is currently being litigated by SAF and Alan Gura.
