Hello everyone this is my first post so take it easy on me and thanks ahead of time for the help/advise!
My dilemma:
I recently purchase a P30S 40s&w v3 (is DA/SA w/ambi safety) I throughly enjoy the gun but after several personal training sessions I came to the conclusion that I should of purchased a v2 ( LEM DAO only w/ no safety) for daily carry. So I would prefer to resolve my dilemma by purchasing a new p30 v2 with cash/gun trade. I would consider a trade for a like new p30 v2 that I could get my hands before the transaction was completed so I'm confident that everything is on the up and up, but really prefer to purchase a new gun.
I then made calls to several local shops inquiring about trades and I was either shoot down or at best told there's an outside chance but don't count on it. So after making the phone calls combined with fact I would first have to find a shop that even has a p30 v2 I'll probably end up listing it on here. It's just know several people in the past that have made store trade transactions and it seems pretty cool. I assume trades are not viable for business.
H&K doesn't support the conversion of the p30 called them and got an ear full. On H&K forums most discourage it
I.E.
It is very simple. If you don't mind playing with fire and are willing to accept the consequences of getting burned, convert away. HK has said several times on their web site that the parts between the V3 and LEM are not compatible to the point that they feel the conversion is safe. You notice that HK will do the standard to LEM conversions on the USP and USPC all day long, but when it comes to the V3 P2K/SK and P30 pistols HK will not touch them because they say the parts are not the same. They work, true enough, but not with the safety standards that meets HK's standards. So, while your skilled and calibrated eye-ball might tell you the parts are the same, and to you they may seem to work the same, they may not wear the same and eventually, down the road, the differences are enough that HK will not condone nor sanction those conversions. Not to mention that if you do a conversion like that and then something happens to your pistol, do not expect HK to touch your pistol under any kind of warranty, and if you send your V3 pistol to them with LEM conversion parts, do not expect to get your LEM converted V3 back. Most likely they will either convert it back to original configuration or return your pistol to you untouched.
And then there are the legal aspects of what will happen to you if your pistol is involved in a shooting, especially an AD, if you are using a pistol that has been converted to a configuration that HK does not allow. Your butt will belong to the prosecutor/personal injury lawyer. Hope you have very deep pockets if that happens...
Also, remember that Montrala is from Poland, NOT the USA, and may be completely unaware the litigious nature of American society. It is not at all uncommon for HK Germany to be completely at odds with HK USA about what HK-USA may or may not do. Taking advice about what you can or cannot do without repercussions from a person not familiar with our situation is not IMO one of the wisest moves one can make.
Even if he is correct that the parts are 100% compatible and the conversion is 100% safe, the fact that HK-USA says not only "NO," but "Hell NO," should be enough to make you stay away from such a conversion because of the CYA aspect alone.
