Re: Looking for a new hunter
Good job!! Nice deer. I imagine pulling the shot on your first ever deer isn't uncommon, but I know I'm not going to pull the trigger on another deer until I've had time to tighten up my shooting, and also a few days out in the woods going through the motions and being more observant. And a forked ...

Re: Looking for a new hunter
I'm another of the student/apprentice hunters in the program this year, and while I didn't get out opening weekend for various reasons, I did get out 2013-11-23, and got this fairly large doe. Like Kelu, I forgot to make pictures before field dressing, but one is attached. WP_20131123_001 (2).jpg He...

Re: Looking for a new hunter
Thank you for doing this. I know I've been looking to get into hunting for a few years, and it's quite hard to figure out how to go about it. and scary to just "go do it". So thanks to you, and everyone else who's helping.

Re: Guided hunt as way to learn?
so I have to get out a ways to be able to hunt, and being able to get out and scout, then get out to hunt isn't easy. The goal is learning the skills, but the WAF is very important for increasing time and funds available. And meat in the freezer will help increase the WAF. So you can see my predica...

Re: Guided hunt as way to learn?
Good points both of you. I'm in the DC suburbs. That, and family obligations, are part of the problem. I'm not an archer (yet), so I have to get out a ways to be able to hunt, and being able to get out and scout, then get out to hunt isn't easy. Guided hunt as way to learn?
May be a silly newbie question, but I've been saying I'm going to get into hunting for years now, and the wife is on board, but I never seem to get out in the woods. So, as a way to make myself get out there, I'm thinking of trying to set up a guided hunt (for deer) this winter. So, gut check, is it...

Nothing to add, really, but I'm following with interest.
The three things that appeal to me:
1) 200 yd+
2) Allow shotgun patterning
3) IDPA
