Re: New in Alexandria/Arlington

Welcome!
Just a heads up, from what I've seen is that inside the Beltway it is not very firearm friendly, the farther you get outside the beltway, the more friendly it becomes.
Stay Safe!

Re: Blow Out Kits-Who Keeps One?

I keep a very basic first aid kit and a secondary "beyond first aid" kit in my zombie bag...secondary kit contains Celox granules, SAM splint, & Asherman chest seal, etc.. my main first aid kit has all the gauze, gloves, etc, so I don't go overboard buying the pre-packaged kits. Some ...

Re: Blow Out Kits-Who Keeps One?

Gear Guy, that's a great site and an interesting document! I note, however, it is from the UK, and unfortunately US guidelines for emergency care do not always agree with those from other countries....which has implications again in terms of good Samaritan laws and responder jeopardy. Well, I was l...

Re: Blow Out Kits-Who Keeps One?

You're going off old information. There has been a lot of recent studies about tourniquet use. They are now recommend for use for major tramua. I'd suggest reading this: http://www.remoteemergencycare.com/documents/tourniquets-gn.pdf Especially page 2, including the foot notes. The part on "Re...

Re: Blow Out Kits-Who Keeps One?

Tourniquets are quite effective and can be life savers if applied and managed correctly...and I would much rather loose an arm or leg to tissue damage than die because someone was afraid of using one...also, in addition to the time put a big T on the forehead...plus loosen slightly every 10-15 minu...

Re: Blow Out Kits-Who Keeps One?

From what I understand the don't spend much time on first aid as it is. IIRC the hardest thing is an IV? Blow out kits are basically this: 1. Put on gloves if you can. 2. Remove clothing that is around the wound...don't be afraid to cut it up. 3. Assess wound...if it is life threating execute step ...

Re: State/Public Land in Centreville Area?

The two nearest areas will be C.H. Phelps, and Thompson. Both are HEAVILY used during the seasons as there is not much hunting land available in NoVa. I wish I saw this thread earlier... Anyways, I have to agree with this statement above. However, it's funny to see how many roadkills there are in t...

Re: Hello from Winchester, Va

Hey there!
I use to live in Winchester. If you have a place to hunt, that's a great area to do it it. I've tried my hand at it a few seasons now, I'm sure if you ask around you'll find a lot of people in the area that spend their weekends hunting at watching football! :)

Re: CONEX Boxes for Underground Shelter

CONEXes were not designed to be buried. They were designed to be stacked on other CONEXes. The only load bearing points on them are the four corners.

Hate to kill anyone's fantasies. It'd be nice if it was just that easy.
