Re: gunsmith for checking safety of surpls rifle?
What/why did they fail? I've had three and none had any issues at all. Are we talking condition not as stated or were they unsafe to fire. I'm not flaming you just asking for clarification of what they CMP missed?

Martinsville Gun Shops
Going to run down to Martinsville tomorrow and figured I would hit some guns stores if I had the time. I'm coming from Roanoke and will probably stop at the two I know of in Collinsville but don't know of any in Martinsville. Anyone got some suggestions? I tend to favor all flavors of S&W as wel...

Re: State's police chiefs seek veto of guns-in-bars bill
The only people that the bill allows to mix guns and alcohol are police officers (on duty, off duty, and retired) and Commonwealth Attorneys and their deputies. I think they removed the part that LEO could drink while CCing. Makes us all equal-er... VA LEO's are exempt from the requirement to have ...

Re: How long did it take to get your CHP?
As I recall about 50+ days. At 45 days, after corresponding with Philip Van Cleave with VCDL I called the Roanoke court house and asked what the problem was and if they were going to issue me a temporary permit? All they knew was my application hadn't come back and they weren't sure about the temp. ...

Re: How to register my ww2 bring back
IMHO there is no "registration" requirement for your particular firearm. That being said if your grandfather has any paperwork showing that it's a WWII bringback that would probably add something to it's resale value should there ever be a time or need for you to wish to sell it. for examp...

Re: Knives in VA
Are you sure about folder? A folding knife is not a dirk or bowie and by definition they're not a switchblade either.

Reciprocity with Wyoming
Per this email from the VCDL it looks like we can add Wyoming to our list. "The Wyoming Governor has signed a bill today that will recognize all statewide CHPs from other states. Member Aaron Stevenson says the bill will take effect immediately. I will keep an eye out for official wo...
