Re: BACKPACKING: How to carry

Check out Bianchi's military line. My backpack's waist belt has a strap on it that allows me to attach the Bianchi UM84R holster, and it's perfect for carrying my GP100. There's also a hip extender option available from Bianchi as well that would allow the drop leg configuration that you mentioned.

Re: Carrying in Vehicle: GW Parkway

My "research" (i.e. googling) has led me to believe that DC ST § 22-4504.02 was amended in response to the Heller Supreme Court decision. Reading § 22-4504.02 and 18 USC § 926A (Interstate transportation of firearms), it appears that DC was amending its code to allign itself with the broad...

Re: Carrying in Vehicle: GW Parkway

Please explain what was under debate. If you are to comply with all state, local, and federal firearms laws, then by simply having a gun in your vehicle in DC, aren't you NOT complying with DC law? Is there some exception for just "passing through?" I can't find one.

Carrying in Vehicle: GW Parkway

ALCON: If you do a Google map search for "Columbia Island," you'll see that Columbia Island, and, consequently, a portion of the GW Parkway is actually in DC. So, regardless of the issues related to concealed carry in national parks (which I know little about), this portion of the GW Parkw...

Re: Any municipalities where CC is restricted?

Wow, nice. Every caliber . . . except .380

Not at the moment, anyway. I'm sure I'll find some eventually, we'll eventually walk on Mars, and cold fusion will power my dishwasher.

Re: help choosing a firearm

When I served in the Navy, I had the good fortune of working with a USMC Colonel who was on the Marine Corps Pistol Team. I used to ask him questions about home defense weapons all the time. My preferred piece at that time was a good ole .45 just because, well, I like them. Who doesn't? That's what ...

Great information! Thanks so much. I'll try to return the favor:

It doesn't search everything, but it helps.

Re: Any municipalities where CC is restricted?

Thanks again! Since you brought it up , how about transporting shotguns/rifles? Specifically, what is the best way to do this in an SUV with no trunk? I typically just unload it, put it in a case (no lock), and place it in the "wayback" with the tonneau cover unrolled so as to cre...

Any municipalities where CC is restricted?

Just got my CHP. Wondering if there are any municipalities in Virginia that restrict or prohibit concealed carry. My guess is the preemption would kick in and prohibit that type of action, but I'm not sure.

Re: Noobie CHP question

Thanks for the information and the welcome. Glad to be here. My Mossberg is actually her recently-purchased-at-local-gun-shop Mossberg so no felonies. She does have a bit of a record though. I think that she got a speeding ticket once in high school. I'll plan accordingly.

Noobie CHP question

Hi all! Great site. I've found this to be the "go to" place for VA gun issues. Finally got my CHP today from Alexandria. Took 51 days, three phone calls, and two emails . . . and it's only a de facto at this point! I guess we'll chalk it up to the blizzards. In actuality, however, I'm told...
