Any municipalities where CC is restricted?
Any municipalities where CC is restricted?
Just got my CHP. Wondering if there are any municipalities in Virginia that restrict or prohibit concealed carry. My guess is the preemption would kick in and prohibit that type of action, but I'm not sure.

Nope and you are right. They cant due to preemption. Municipalities have limited power regarding what they can limit concerning carry and if memory serves its limited to things like transport of loaded shotguns or rifles in a vehicle.
Other than the stated areas like school properties and courthouses only business owners can restrict your carry.

Thanks again! Since you brought it up
, how about transporting shotguns/rifles? Specifically, what is the best way to do this in an SUV with no trunk? I typically just unload it, put it in a case (no lock), and place it in the "wayback" with the tonneau cover unrolled so as to create a sort of trunk. I keep the ammo in a range back in the back seat or upfront with me. Should have no problems, right? Or should I slap a padlock on the case to be sure? Your thoughts.

No prob. Your way is fine and VA does not require anything beyond the weapon being cased. Lock is not required for the case itself.MrPeanut wrote:Thanks again! No prob. I already use ammo engine. Here's a bigger favor and no I dont have any connection with them. They merely seem to have just about every thing in almost every caliber...reasonable prices and shipping.MrPeanut wrote:Great information! Thanks so much. I'll try to return the favor:

Wow, nice. Every caliber . . . except .380
Not at the moment, anyway. I'm sure I'll find some eventually, we'll eventually walk on Mars, and cold fusion will power my dishwasher.

Actually if you keep an eye on that site they do have .380 frequently and at decent prices. I've got 300 rounds still siting in the box it was delivered in a couple days ago. $17.99 per 50 for FMJ. If you need .380 check them every couple of days and you will soon be rewarded...MrPeanut wrote:Wow, nice. Every caliber . . . except .380![]()

DK I don't think long guns are required to be cased, just unloaded in certain counties. If that's correct then I break the law just about every time I get in my truck. The only time I case mine is if I have tpp many with me to fit up front then I put them in a hard case and let 'em slide around in the bed.

Good point Henry. I think you're right about the "all counties" part. Depends on where you are. If I had my way we'd move to Keysville and I'd never leave Charlotte County...unless a bunch of Bill's friends showed up for good...
