Re: CHP Privilege
Natural Rights are a philosophical justification for why certain things are off limits. If a right is more than just a government privileged, even if the existing legal code does not recognize it. The movement towards natural rights began as far back as the Magna Carta when the English forced King ...

Re: CHP Privilege
The Constitution did not create those Rights, it simply acknowledged that society demanded the various levels of government respect them and to what degree. Yes, I'm familiar with that train of thought. See the usage of protect in the last quote. "Shall not infringe" is a vastly different...

@t33j - maybe I misunderstood your response to gunderwood but if not - what part of shall not be infringed is unclear...also, please see my post right above yours. A right means I can do it period without fear of legal interference...AFAIK there isnt much left these days that falls into that bucket...

Re: Holding for friend
Ok, so if his buddy traveled here and they went to a shooting range, and his buddy let him try the gun, a felony has been committed? As a practical matter, when the rightful owner/possessor is present, no transfer is considered to have occurred. The two are not necessarily the same, nor do they hav...

Re: CHP Privilege
As a matter of technically, if a government has the power to determine what is and isn't a right, then by definition there are no rights. The branches of our government have been doing that almost all along. I don't know that I'd put the second part of your sentence in quite the same way though. To...

Re: CHP Privilege
One doesn't have to ask for permission to exercise a right. Carrying a concealed handgun is illegal. 18.2-308 also creates exemptions for those with CHPs. I'm not saying that's the way it should be; it's just the way it is. So it's an infringed right? I don't that changes its status as a right thou...

Re: CHP Privilege
A priviledge of having a CHP however, is that you are not restricted to purchasing only one handgun every 30 days. Along with the primary one of being able to carry a gun concealed. That's a right, not a privilege. One doesn't have to ask for permission to exercise a right. Carrying a concealed han...

Re: Getting into Reloading, suggestions
One thing regarding the turret press I haven't seen much on is the primer seating. Is it pretty much a full push of the rod to seat the primer, or is it pretty evident when its seated? I know there isn't an adjustment for the depth with this press, so I was curious how to know if/when the proper de...

Very much so but 1911s in particular can be finicky. I like 1911s too much to worry about that though. I'd venture to say that most people don't have problems with the caliber of gun Springfield Armory / Kimber / (other popular 1911 maker) put out.

Well I'm not doing much 'till Friday. Pick a day and we can meet here-> http://www.lafayettegunclub.com/ Ammo and targets are not sold at the range so you'd have to pick them up at some other store/range. Probably closer to the end of the week a friend of mine should be picking up a USP Tactical to ...

No. The class is a prerequisite for applying for a Concealed Handgun permit. You should get some sort of proof that you have completed a class after taking it. Take your certificate to the clerk at your circuit court house along with $50 and apply. Some localities require fingerprints. Wait for no l...

Re: are kel-tec's any good
Basically nobody can answer that except for you. It'd be best for you to go to a range where you can rent a variety of firearms in different calibers and decide what you like and what you don't. If you're in the Hampton Roads area I'd be willing to take you to my range and let you use my guns if you...

Canon used to have a solid lead in the compact camera department. I don't think that's quite true any more. Compacts aren't really my thing.

Better, but still not sharp. Could be focus, could be a small amount of camera motion. I suspect the latter, because there doesn't appear to be any plane of focus in the picture. Try more light (and a faster shutter speed), or flash, or a tripod. Oh I dunno. The date stamp screams low-end compact c...
