Re: What power scope do i need?
That leads me to my next question. What is an affordable quality .308 case for reloading since they will get chewed up? I have bolt guns to shoot at quantico but all in calibers that the range does not accept. So that is why I am trying to squeeze as much long distance fun as I can get out of my sem...

Re: What power scope do i need?
Thanks for all the good information guys. I know the PTR will not be giving me bolt action groups. The 40mm advice is great because I was maybe thinking of a 50mm. I know the Silver Bear is not quality ammo. But I do want to shoot that right off the bat until I am on paper and I'm dialing it in then...

Re: Firearm Investment
If you had $10,000 to invest your single most reliable firearm investment would be to join the Civilian Marksmanship Program and buy (12) M1Garands. The good ones start at $625 up to about $1,500 for a collector gun. You are only allowed to buy 12 a year. You could shoot them for 10 years and at the...

Re: What power scope do i need?
I guess to me more specific I will only be shooting targets at 300 yards, at Quantico. I will not be taking long shots at game. I am really just trying to hit the range and put my shots as close to the bulls eye as my rifle, eye, and scope will allow. I like they way my 9x looks at 100yrds but does ...

What power scope do i need?
I hope to do some distance shooting in the near future down in Quantico. I have never shot at distances over 100yrds. I have a 3-9x on my .303 Brit Enfield and a 4x scope on my Mossberg slug. Both work fine at my distances. But how much power do I need to shoot at 300 yards? I will be using an 18&qu...

Re: Mountable Holsters for your car?
This post makes me think of something I have always wanted to do in my old hot rod C10. I have always wanted to weld in a lockable shotgun holder/bracket like cop cruiser used to have, and maybe still do.

Re: Firearm Investment
Certain military surplus guns are a great investment. Depending on how long you can sit on them. An SKS rifle used to cost $79, 16 years ago. They now sell for $279-$350. 16 years ago you could buy them by the crate. M1 carbines used to cost maybe $15 after shipping to your front door and they now s...

Re: FFL Transfer Fee for Retail Unethical?
It is a way of capturing more money but still being able to advertise your guns at a lower price. For example if the shop dropped every price in the store by $30 and started adding on a $30 fee then they were ethical. If they just decided they needed more profit and added a $30 fee but still adverti...

Re: Pawn Stores
I have bought some rare single shot shotguns for cheap. Winchester 37s and the Old Remingtons. But the best pawn shop buys I have had were a pre64 Marlin I picked up for $200 2 years ago. I have no clue what they were thinking. All the rest of their guns were normal price but that lever action was j...

Re: any c&r holders in northern va?
C&R holders can sell guns, but they are forbidden to be in the business of dealing guns, as noted above. Thus, buying a gun to sell it right away would probably be considered dealing, especially since you're offering a C&R holder payment for the service. Call Nova Armament, they had a coupl...

Re: squirrel hunting
No matter how many types of guns I own, shooting anything with a .22lr somehow takes the cake. My Ruger 10/22 has been my loyalist friend for the past 18 years. The only time it ever let me down was when i tried using a cheap plastic ram-line 50rnd mag.

Re: Best concealed carry pistol?
I agree with Bill, for some, my post might be bad advise. I carelessly assume that everyone is like me when in fact some aren't. I know how my guns shoot with anything from trash range re-loaded garbage to the cor-bons and maxed out custom reloads but in a CC situation I know what I am working with....
