Re: TC Firehawk 54 Cal. Muzzle Loader
I owned a FireHawk in .54 and sold it to fund my now sold Encore. I fell for the QLA hype and had the regular barrel sent off to put the QLA in. The rifle was a conical shooter before the QLA, but would only shoot Knight 260 grain/red sabot bullets with any accuracy after that. Another bullet you mi...

Re: Recommendations for a BP rifle?
I really like the T/C , I think it's hard to beat for the money. I prefer to shoot the 50 cal. no matter where you go you can find bullets and other supplies, and it seems to work well for me on deer. I have a good supply of pydrodex and black powder, so I haven't been keeping up with things. I'll ...

Re: Recommendations for a BP rifle?
TC Omega or Triumph in .50cal are very good choices. I have a Encore that has the same barrel, they are very accurate. You owe it to yourself to try the new powder Blackhorn 209. Its the closest powder to smokeless you can get (right now) very fast, easy cleanup, non corrosive and no crud ring or sw...

Re: Smoke Blower Pictures Thread - Show and Tell
That Seneca is a rare gun, better hold onto it, if in good shape inside and out its worth $600. I had a .32 Cherokee and sold it to buy my first inline a TC FireHawk. The Cherokee are also hard to come by and I could have doubled my money if I had kept it.

Re: Hello from Ranoke
Welcome!! Reminds me when I got out of the USAF, when I went in 1970 was inducted and sworn in at Roanoke so that was also on my discharge papers in 1974. The sgt. that took my papers for final discharge called it Roan-okee...got a laugh out of that then and still today. Doesn't seem that...

Re: looking for other female gunowners in Harrisonburg!
Welcome!! Another good range is just over the Shenandoah mountain in WV, just before you get to Brandywine rec area on the right, Rt. 33W. Its about a 30-40 minute drive. I went up there last Sunday and it was closed due to vandalism/trash, better call the US Forest Service before you go to be sure ...

Re: Smoke Blower Pictures Thread - Show and Tell
About the only smoke blowing I do is with a cigarette - which I really need to stop doing one of these days before it kills me...but anyway, I'd like to see some pictures of your muzzle loaders laying on the kitchen table, propped up against a tree or with your behind the sights and a puff of smoke...

Re: What kind of muzzleloader/black powder firearms do you have?
I also have a Thompson Omega. I killed 3 deer with it last fall. I'm still messing around with the load and bullet. Right now I am at 100g (by volume) of Blackhorn 209 and Barnes 195 Expander MZ bullets. I use a thinner sabot than that which comes with the bullet and I can easily shoot at least 10 ...

Re: Inline or Sidelock?
Wow!! That is a big doe, congrats!! I took a 3 point buck and a button buck that fooled me, he was by himself and heading for a apple tree when the 496gr lead conical hit him, both deer dropped at the shot. Gotta love the high shoulder shot. I'll try to get the pic's up. http://i452.photobucket.com/...

Re: Inline or Sidelock?
The inline is no different than a modern rifle, easy to use, easy to load. I'm gonna have to disagree on that one!! There is no way a modern inline can match a modern centerfire rifle in ballistics or range. The inline maybe just as accurate as a centerfire or even more so depending on the gun and ...

Re: Inline or Sidelock?
I voted inline, basically because I like a scope on my rifles (old eyes) and I don't like to see a scope on a traditional muzzleloader. I do own a .54 TC Renegade and it shoots RB great out to 50 yds very accurately. My White and TC Encore (with scopes) will group 1/2 " at 100 yds. I want to hi...

Muzzleloaders
I have been shooting muzzleloaders since 1993 when I killed my first buck with a TC Renegade in .54 cal. I have since owned several Thompson Centers and now have more White muzzys than TC's. I average two deer a year with them and have taken several squirrels and one turkey with the shotgun. My cent...
