.22 Magnum Rifle/Handgun

Passed both of my .22 magnums to son-in-law and now am in the market for a plinker (handgun or rifle) for myself. Inexpensive is, of course, desirable but not critical. Shipping/FFL involvement (in the case of a shipped handgun) could make a good deal not so good but will be considered. I have cash ...

Re: The road to perdition: Black Rifle build-your-own

Good advice on the cleaning. Cleaning a .22 once a decade is usually OK, but tolerances in a drop-in unit are probably too tight for that.

Still in the brass gathering/sorting (some 6.8s use small primers) phase, but I will reload as soon as I get a couple of more range sessions completed.

Re: The road to perdition: Black Rifle build-your-own

Road to Perdition (Continued - 9 months later) The 6.8 went on a pig hunt in South Carolina, but I didn’t get a shot. Maybe next time! I was lucky enough to find a member on this forum getting out of 6.8 who had a lot of ammo for a reasonable price (the average came down to less than $15 per box). I...

Re: What's your Hollywood firearm pet peeve?

The gratuitous sound of the safety being clicked off (on a GLOCK!!) or sound of the hammer being cocked on a semiautomatic handgun (how did that round get in the chamber anyhow?).

Firearms Serial Numbers

Anyone else out there have a "thing" (fetish/obsesession) about serial numbers? In theory, every (modern) firearm is "custom" because the # is uniue, but I don't think anyone considers that very special. However, I sometimes go out of my way to pick up "special" numbers...

.410 Anyone?

One of my off-the-wall trades got me a .410 Condor (Brazil) double: 2 triggers, extractors, choked full/full, 3" chambers. Nothing fancy, but well made and solid. The drawbacks are, of course, tight chokes and expensive ammo. The benefits are: Funner than heck to shoot! No recoil and slick to p...

Re: range in Richmond.. Dominion?

I'm familiar with a range near Myrtle Beach that also does not allow steel jackets, but charges $2 per box for your own ammo (if it passes the magnet check). That encourages folks to show up and generate range fees, ammo (who shoots one box?), and other purchases - targets, cleaning gear, new toys. ...

Pictures: Upper has a marking which indicates it is from Cerro Forge. Barrel is marked "Lothar Walther". the flash hider is standard, covered by freeby from the source where I bought the ambidextrous sling attachment. http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l281/kjack-01/AR68001.jpg Note the amb...

Re: Savage Heavy Barreled bolt gun

I bought a left-hand Savage M10 with the heavy barrel a few years ago (pre-Accu-trigger) as a groundhog gun. I bought it because it had a good reputation for accuracy and longevity and I wanted it to be MY rifle (being LH) (and the price was right). I put a Timney trigger in it, set it once to aroun...

The road to perdition: Black Rifle build-your-own

A friend at work told me about a group buy for AR15 lower receivers. He had heard the lowers would be $50 and the parts kits $40! I was hooked. What he failed to mention was shipping and FFL transfer fee, and the extra 2 months it took to put the deal together. Still, I was going to be able to get m...

Re: WTB My First Pistol Browning Buckmark or S&W Mod 41

That's quite a wide range of price!
Browning: $350 - $700
S&W: $650 - $1400
(from GunBroker)

I have a Ruger that looks like GunBroker 214974363 but with a 5.5" barrel.
