Re: Where can I hunt in Virginia with a .308 caliber rifle?
Any county which allows centerfire rifles for big game hunting is a county you can use your .308. You need to refer to the "local firearms ordinances, laws and regulations section" in the hunting/trapping digest.

Re: Experience With Muzzle Brakes
Any stock made for any rifle can be a "drop in" fit and very well might improve accuracy. To get the maximum accuracy from any rifle you need to minimize any variables. The variables that pertain to the stock are contact with the barrel, chamber/action/lug contact and action screw tension....

Re: Experience With Muzzle Brakes
Kelu, it depends on what type of accuracy you're looking for and how much time/money you want to invest. The Remington stock is certainly adequate for hunting as is. The barrel should be factory free floated but the stock may need a bit of reinforcement to ensure it does not warp upwards as the barr...

Experience With Muzzle Brakes
I thought I'd share an experience I had with muzzle brakes. A little while back, I threaded a rifle barrel for a muzzle brake, intended for use with a suppressor. I indicated the barrel on my lathe, using an insert in the muzzle to ensure the threads were cut concentric to the bore. The threads were...

Re: "guarantee access to the US"
Specific to Cuba, there is a wet foot/dry foot policy. If they are stopped at sea they will be sent back to Cuba. If they make landfall in the U.S.A. they will be allowed to stay.

Re: need kicker
What is a "kicker"? Are you talking about the "hand" that turns the cylinder? Is it worn or is it broken? Either way, a decent welder should be able to MIG or TIG weld where necessary and allow the gunsmith to refit the part. Heat treating would be necessary after welding to ensu...

I love my Glock, but I also love 1911's. I'm not a big fan of Sig, H&K or Walther. It's purely astestic, just something about them that I don't like.

The hypocrisy astounds me. Government can regulate one segment of the Bill of Rights but has no right to regulate any other part of it.

Re: Under The Gun Director has admitted to a felony.
I have much greater concerns of the mentality of the person whom sold the guns without knowing anything about the buyer -- if that is the case. If the question(s) was asked by the seller -- Do you live here in Az and answered yes -- no issue with the seller. Perhaps he should have asked for id to v...

Re: gunshow observations
On the overpriced merchandise, most vendors realize they might have a haggle a bit and price accordingly, but it's tough to haggle with an aggressive customer that only wants to pay the wholesale price they saw on CDNN or Bud's Gun Shop. These guys are small business owners that can't compete with t...

Re: Under The Gun Director has admitted to a felony.
I'd like to see the ATF pursue a case on Soechtig and the poor producer that broke several laws trying to show how easy it is to "legally" (illegally) buy a gun. Unfortunately they will probably track down the seller and remove that "menace" from the streets while praising the &q...

Re: Twin Towers - who REALLY blew them up?
This thread, and I saw a post somewhere else indicating a "former CIA agent" claims to have knowledge that no planes flew into the towers. I suppose Japan didn't bomb Pearl Harbor either, it was an inside job to get us into WWII. I understand the concept of "trust but verify" but...

Re: Pocket pistol must be holstered?
There are many reasons to use a holster, even with a pocket gun. But first, there is no law requiring a holster, at least in Virginia. Reasons to use a holster: - It protects the gun and the finish. - Helps to keep pocket trash from getting into the magazine and action. - Keeps the gun oriented for ...

Re: Copper Fouling on Flash Hider: Bad?
It's been a while since you started this. You don't say whether the rifle is accurate or not, but since there is no damage, I wouldn't be concerned about the bullets impacting anything. I assume you use some type of bore cleaner to remove copper fouling? It's likely there is fouling left in the bore...

Re: So, how did this ND happen?
Training, training and training. It doesn't matter what holster you use, pay attention while holstering your gun. Observe for anything that might be in the way. It's not a speed race to see who can holster fast enough. I've seen an Uncle Mike's holster that looked similar to the picture above, excep...

Louisa Gunsmithing Services LLC
I'd like to introduce a new gunsmithing shop based in Louisa County. Veteran owned (by me), providing general gunsmithing, retail and FFL transfer services. Shop labor rate is $40 per hour. I am home based, so my lack of overhead allows such a low rate. Professional cleaning/inspections are $50. Inc...
