Re: Finally got to shoot the new M&P Shield

Yeah I think S&W took a lot of heat regarding their triggers as the result of the Sigma series...this shield has a very decent trigger imho.....

Finally got to shoot the new M&P Shield

Well I finally got the chance to go out and shoot my new S&W M&P Shield 9mm, after anxiously waiting for the past couple of weeks, and I'm glad to say that it ran great, and I really like it! I intentionally fed it cheap ammo to see how it would do, and I'm happy to report that it ate everyt...

Re: The AK's safety lever sucks.

Enjoyable post - for my .02 I'd like to point out that this rifle was designed in the late 1940's by a Russian Army tank mechanic. Also, I think the Russian Spetsnaz guys are trained to use their support hand for manipulating both the safety and the charging handle. They're also pretty damn good at ...

Re: MAK-90 rebuild

That all looks great so far - I'm not so sure about the part where you use screws on the bolt guide rails though....and I'll tell you from personal experience that you want some serious penetration when you weld them in - the first AK I built the rails popped out when I went to heat-treat the receiv...

Re: Catastrophic failure with Springfield XD - anyone else?

From my recollection Marc, (it was back in the early part of the summer) the break was "rough" on both pieces, and there definitely was no indication prior to this of any problems. I am pretty thorough about cleaning and maintaining my firearms, especially my ccw, and I'd never seen anythi...

Suggestions for good night sites for an M&P Shield

Hi all, Just picked up an M&P Shield this past weekend, as I needed something more compact than my regular CCW, which is a Springfield XD subcompact. I've got Truglo night sights on that pistol, and was thinking about going with the same thing for this shield, but thought I'd ask everyone on the...

Re: New member from Richmond City area

Thanks all for the welcome! I appreciate the offer to go shooting, Safaridave - I just started a new job and the hours are very long, so unfortunately its going to be awhile before I get any trigger time, but I'll send a msg when I get a break in the action, I am definitely yearning for a chance to ...

PS I'd definitely give you more than $5 for it!!! I'm sure there are plenty of salvageable parts left on it!

Re: I.O. AK47 went Kabooom

Possibly it was built incorrectly? IE excessive headspace?? Seems like there was a massive buildup of chamber pressure - unfortunately it is probably way too damaged to check it with a go-no-go gauge setup....hopefully they'll hand-pick the replacement they send you so that you get a top-of-the-line...

Catastrophic failure with Springfield XD - anyone else?

Hi all, I've been a huge fan of the Springfield XD platform, and have been carrying an Xd 9mm subcompact for many years. I also own a full-sized Xd 9mm as well. Last summer while practicing with the subcompact, I experienced a catastrophic failure. I'd been practicing with factory loaded fmj target ...

Re: AK Build Party?

Hi all, I'm new to this site, but not to AK building. I used to have a well-equipped shop (used car and motorcycle repair shop) but I closed it this past summer. I have built several AK's, one Romy, one Maadi, and one frankenAK, so I have some experience to share and would be glad to do so. I recent...

New member from Richmond City area

Hi all, Just wanted to introduce myself to the forum, my name is Chuck and I live in the Richmond area. I just found out about VGOF by accident, while doing an internet search for something gun-related, and decided to join. I've been a member of the VaGunTrader sight for quite awhile, and have been ...
