Re: Red Flag law
I don't understand why the law applies only to firearms. If a person is truly an imminent danger to himself or others, shouldn't all potential weapons be removed, such as kitchen knives, saws, axes, gasoline, chainsaws, automobiles, toxic materials, rope, matches, plastic bags, screwdrivers, hammers...

Re: 2A Sanctuaries
Well our Floyd County supervisors here in VA just unanimously passed a 2nd Amendment Sanctuary resolution last night! These Supervisor meetings normally draw just a handful of people. This one filled a 600 seat auditorium with more standing! I understand the Wythe County meeting drew some 1,100 peop...

Re: Gov. Northam announces gun control package
The best long term solution is to split the state into North Virginia and South Virginia. That way our representatives would actually represent our interests, needs, and way of life. Right now we are just the tail on the NOVA dog.

You may want to guide your decision by the usefulness of the rifle. My wife inherited an old (1940s) Stevens double barrel 20 ga shotgun. We don't hunt, or shoot competitively, or shoot skeet - all of our firearms are intended for home or self defense, and this shotgun just doesn't fit that purpose ...

University of Florida offers counseling for students 'troubled' by Halloween costumes. “Some Halloween costumes reinforce stereotypes of particular races, genders, cultures, or religions. Regardless of intent, these costumes can perpetuate negative stereotypes, causing harm and offense to groups of...

Re: Firearms in Cars
I see your point - if the gun cannot be seen it is concealed. I have viewed any carry that does not require a CCP as being open carry, perhaps not a good choice of words.

Re: Firearms in Cars
I'm not a lawyer so you certainly may be right, and indeed subsection A states "It shall be an affirmative defense to a violation of clause (i) regarding a handgun, that a person had been issued, at the time of the offense, a valid concealed handgun permit." But the actual wording of subse...

Loaded handguns may be carried in an unlocked glove compartment or center console of a motor vehicle without a CCP: http://law.lis.virginia.gov/vacode/18.2-308/ A. If any person carries about his person, hidden from common observation, (i) any pistol, revolver, or other weapon designed or intended t...

Re: Firearms in Cars
With the exception of some specific places such as some federal land, school properties, etc, it is legal to have loaded firearms in your car in VA. If it is concealed you will need a CCP, however, a closed glove compartment or center console are considered open carry, and do not need to be locked. ...

Re: Second form for buying handgun?
Thanks Utah and WVUBeta. Interesting that, unlike with form 4473, a copy of the SP-65 form is submitted to the State Police. The Procedures Manual does not indicate what the State Police do with this form or how long they keep it. Not exactly firearm registration as the firearms are not identified b...

Re: Second form for buying handgun?
Thanks OakRidge! Would anyone happen to know the form number? I searched the VA State Police site but cannot find a copy of the form. I just want to know what information I provided. I recall that I did not have any problem with the form at the time but would like to see it.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Second form for buying handgun?
I bought a handgun at my LGS last month and after filling out the 4473 form they gave me another Virginia form to fill out. I questioned it and they said this form has been required for years. I know I did not fill out another form when I bought a shotgun three years ago. I should have noted the for...

Re: Goodbye to one of the best years in history
Amazing how life can take sudden and unexpected turns. While still grieving the loss of my dear wife, a lady sat next to me in a pub in January and we started chatting. Turns out she lost her husband of 35 years last year as well, just unexpectedly died in his sleep. The more we talked the more we f...

How many milk jugs of water to stop a .38 SP +P
After seeing this video where a .44 Magnum was stopped with just four water balloons https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=blGNsJl7Ku8 , I decided to see if I could stop a much weaker round with three milk jugs filled with water. The gun is a Ruger SP101 357 Magnum with a 2.25" barrel, and the round ...

I noticed the important words are missing, like ISIS, ISIL, Taliban, Al Qaeda, HAMAS, Hizballah, Palestine Liberation, Islamic Jihad, Marv Albert, etc. Oh No! Now that you used those words, everyone in this thread is on the list! Oh No! I'm now in this thread! You lured me in because you want me wa...

Sorry, worst year of my life - lost my wife to a bad heart in June and my 95 year old mother last week. Can't wait for 2015 as it has to be better than 2014!

The Grand Jury has quite a responsibility on their shoulders. If they do not indict, the black community will hit the streets, throwing rocks, looting businesses, attacking the police, and setting fires. If they do indict, the white community will hit the streets, throwing rocks, looting businesses,...

So if the poor people cannot find a free hour to obtain a free voter ID, how on earth will they find the 18 hours and high expense required to obtain a firearm permit? Denying poor people their constitutional right to self defense is certainly discriminatory. Where are the defenders of the poor Jess...
