Virginia Senator Attempts To Stop Pro Gun Legislation
I just received the following email from the NRA. It is very disturbing and we need to get moving immediately to let our opinion be heard. I have already begun to email those involved and the rest of us here at VGOF need to do the same. If they see how many people are aware of this end game attempt to take away our hard won freedoms maybe they will listen. Please write and check the NRA's site for the whole story. Here is the email I received
"Virginia: Anti-Gun State Senator Creates Unnecessary Hurdle for Gun Bills in Richmond!
Please Contact the members of the committee and request a fair hearing on Firearm bills!
With two weeks remaining in the 2010 session, the Chairman of the Senate Courts of Justice Committee, State Senator Henry Marsh (D-16), announced this morning the creation of a new “Sub-Committee” which will hear all the firearm related bills passed by the House of Delegates.
Senator Marsh’s motion is unprecedented and a direct slap in the face to Virginia’s law-abiding firearm owners and to the House of Delegates, which has already vetted and voted to approve these bills with many garnering strong bi-partisan support.
State Senator Toddy Puller (D-36) will Chair this new special Sub-Committee and be joined by her fellow rabid anti-gun colleagues; State Senator Marsh (D-16), State Senator Louise Lucas (D-18), and State Senator Janet Howell (D-32). The sole Republican member of the Sub-Committee will be State Senator Frederick Quayle (R-13). Please contact the members of this sub-committee and urge them to request a fair hearing on firearm bills. Contact information can be found by clicking on their name.
As of this morning, no date or time has been set to for the special Sub-Committee to meet but NRA will notify you as soon as to the time and date.
This is urgent, we need to act now to protect our freedom and to ensure the true will of the people is heard. Please forward this to anyone you feel will act in time to stop this.

Re: Virginia Senator Attempts To Stop Pro Gun Legislation
I just saw this on OCDO.
This is a despicable act of tyranny and essentially "stuffs" any pro-gun legislation.
I hope enough people contact (I already have) these senators and give them a piece of their mind.
A lot of people might say "Well, we'll just vote them out" but that's the whole problem. You vote them out as a response to their failures, but the damage is already done. These people must either be stopped or somehow unelected before they do the damage that they are intending.

Uh, seems to me those are the same ones that voted them in to begin with. If you can "vote them out" then you probably helped vote them in to begin with.wylde007 wrote:I just saw this on OCDO.

Re: Virginia Senator Attempts To Stop Pro Gun Legislation
Nothing more than a stall tactic. With only two weeks to go in the session, by the time this subcommittee gets up and running, there will not be enough time to review the bills and move them forward.

At least restaurant carry will most likely not be affected by the death committee. We'll probably know in another week if it will make to the Governor's desk unchanged.
I think that Senator Marsh's shennagins are going to have an unanticipated backlash when it's time for the house to vote.

Re: Virginia Senator Attempts To Stop Pro Gun Legislation
I still think that there's more to this than we're seeing or hearing about. Something in the background that we may never find out about. Strikes me odd that this was brought up with just a short time left , almost like it was planned after seeing how the gun bills were doing.None of those committee members are exactly what you would call "legislative giants" ..Pretty much all have mundane records of little noteriety or substance, except of course their NO votes on progun legislation. One has actually submitted 2 anti gun bills, The Loophole bill and the DUI from another state bill. A Clothesline Bill from one and a lot of commendations and nominations for crappola from others..Gonna be interesting to see the results, I doubt highly that we;ll do very well. But you never know till the smoke clears whats left standing

Re: Virginia Senator Attempts To Stop Pro Gun Legislation
I'm listening to the Delegates now:
http://legis.virginia.gov/streaming/hod ... aming.html
The restaurant bill passed, the mail-in renewal passed, and another gun law that I missed passed.
If I understand things correctly, we just need the Govs signature now.
Still more to do.
Hopefully we can get a fair vote on the others in the senate.

The Senate Bills passed the House. Now the Senate "special" committee will be reviewing House bills.
HB505 is among them. The House "Restaurant" bill.
This committee is utter bollocks.
